Top ten fastest growing online jobs in 2015
The recently published Freelancer quarterly Fast 50 Report (full six-page report here) lists top 50 fastest-growing jobs and skills on the market. Although the main finding is the increase of demand in Windows related jobs and skills, I want to focus on a significant rise in creative jobs people find via networking channels, social media and specialised websites (like WA after all).
Content writing rules
Guess what, Content Writing is leading at 21.8% growth. This trend is likely to continue in the coming months and years. The only difference will be the versatility of content since users will be ever more demanding. Content creators will have to adjust and mix text with other media to attract and keep visitors engaged.
Video content is catching up
As you can imagine, the other media is video. The report claims video related jobs such as editing (18.6%) and video services (14.2%) also soared. Note no 8 below, transcription is often closely related to video editing. It means we will have to master new skills related to video editing and skills of presenting interesting content through various video channels. Don’t wait for the future. It’s already here.
Amazonmania
Finally, Amazon Web Services have gone up by 13,9% compared to the second quarter in 2015. I suspect you aren’t surprised. We are rapidly transitioning towards e-conomy and online shopping as the main type of buying goods. In three years most people in the developed and developing world will be buying via websites from the comfort of their homes (it will lead to all sorts of psychological and sociological traumas, but that’s another complex topic).
Here’s the top ten list:
- Windows Desktop – 62.7%
- Microsoft Word – 29.3%
- Microsoft Excel – 26.6%
- Angular.js – 21.9%
- Content Writing – 21.8%
- Covers & Packaging – 19.8%
- Video Editing – 18.6%
- Transcription – 15.1%
- Video Services – 14.2%
- Amazon Web Services – 13.9%
Wrap up
Considering most of us are into online marketing, the prospects for the coming years are pretty attractive. Well, I mean if you sharpen your writing, video editing and marketing skills.

I've just reviewed your review of WA. Nice work. Very detailed and informative. I would change/fix some of the formatting, but others, a job well done!
Jenny, thanks for reviewing it. I assume you're referring to this: http://powerfulaffs.com/how-to-make-money-online or something unrelated to it?
Signs of the times, good thing that we are ahead of the curve here at WA. Makes sense to become an Amazon affiliate after all.
