WE were just approved for another affiliate marketing company and they have a few different options when copying the code. So I wonder what is the difference between javascrip

Javascripts can be very useful. They add a variety of functionality to your site, much the way plugins do. BUT - some javascripts affect web browsers differently. So, like Loes said, be cautious if you're not experienced with them. They also are fussy about where they're placed in your source code. So read instructions carefully... if it includes placement instructions, or your site could act weird, including making the whole page seem to disappear. Despite, the warnings, I have used and enjoyed some javascripts very successfully in the past. If you Google "freee javascripts" you'll find some doozies. They usually tell you which browsers they work best with. Best to use only those that work on all platforms. Results can vary.

thank you for the useful info, I will have to do some reading today and learn a little more abut them. I have just noticed on the Amazon Affiliate they have two different ways you can embed and our newest the CJ, has both HTML and Javascript. Thanks.

Ey there Terri, not sure but I think that hiding the tracking code is a good thing as some individuals may dink around with it in a way as to deny you getting the credit for the sale. I think I read that somewhere here at WA... not sure... hopefully one of the folks here will fill in the blanks for ya'. Hey to Vic!

Hey Randy, thank you.. I kinda thought I should hide it, so I did. Wonder if encrypting is needed??

Hmmm... not sure on the encrypting kiddo, I've never really delved into that world! Let me ask Loes real quick...

Ok no problem, thanks for your help

(-;

HTML is directly on your website, scripts load from other hostings, so it can really slow your website speed

Hiya Loes... what do ya' think about the encrypting aspect of it... should Terri attempt to go that route?

I would be cautious to use scripts

Thanks Loes

Thank ya' Loes!!!

Most places use Java so I don't think it maters that much. Its what ever you feel comfortable with. Java is a programming language that doesn't need compiling. Google ad's would use JavaScript to run there advertisements on your site for example.

JavaScript is more active. I would have no problem using it.

Thank you, they have both codes to embed on my site for the banner ads, I just wondered which one is better to use or if it mattered?

Thank You

JavaScript accesses a special library from what I understand. JavaScript plays a greater role in slowing down operation of your site.

Hi KDClover, thank you…now I am very confused…hahaha So you think it is better to use the HTML? I can use either one, I just don’t know which is better or if it really mattered? Thanks so much

When we signed up last month, we couldn’t buy everything at once. So we started building our site on WP having a siterubix

Type in WWW.yourwebsite.com in google search it should list the pages if ranked

Thank you, yes we found it the next day. I greatly appreciate all your help! Hope you have a nice week!

In my opinion you should view websites created thru siterubix as practice websites used for training purposes, not the real thing. Are you set up with Google Analytics? If not use or create a gmail account and then use the gmail address for the Google Analytics. You will need to copy some code from Google Analytics to your website for verification purposes.

HI yes we had signed up before, but I think I need to do this again with this new domain. Thank you for reminding me I forgot about that. We had been so involved in getting content written, its some of the other things I need to remember to do. Thanks again for your input.

I was going to answer this question but I see that E already got you. That's great.

Thank you for posting anyway. Have a great weekend!

Site indexing can take hours to weeks and there is no way to really know for certain how long it is going to be.

Have you checked to make sure your new site is live and that everything from your siterubix transferred over to it?

ROCK ON!
E

Thank you for the quick response. Yes, I checked all the pages and posts yesterday after I switched. Everything looks fine and it also redirects from the old one to the new just fine. I guess I’ll have to be patient…LOL thanks again Have a good one!

Just keep on checking it and soon enough it will be indexed. :-)

Thanks, yes I just looked a little bit ago and it is indexed now. I just wasn’t sure. And it took a little longer to buy our own domain than we wanted but finally got it. But we just kept adding more and more content in the meantime. Thank you

Excellent!

ROCK ON!

Ive been building my website the past two weeks, have changed the them once, but I am very confused between the pages and the posts. I was first adding only pages, then noticed

Figuring the difference between posts and pages took me forever to figure out in the beginning. They look the same so it is easy to confuse the two.

Basically, a page is static. They are used to make up menus. Pages are also used to create such "documents" as a disclaimer, privacy policy, etc.

Posts are timely. They are found on the chronological blog roll that is constantly updated as new content is created and published. And yes, you are right, you should only have a set number of pages and build your posts within those pages. (As you create a post in the editor, there is a box to the right where you can indicate under which page the post should fall. Just check the appropriate box.)

About menus, that can be confusing. The main menu is the one that usually falls under the header. It's what a visitor will use to navigate throughout your site. Each theme is different, though. Here are some blogs put together by WA members which might help: You're getting a lot of good help. Hope you found some answers today. =)

Thank You, I am starting to get it now. I spent all day switching them…ugh! What a timely process…LOL But maybe it’s my theme, but the new posts I created(and I checked the correct box) are only showing in the current post box. Tomorrow I will go double check the boxes I checked. Thanks for the links, I will read them this evening. Have a great week!

Hi, Terryi!...Good to hear about your progress. And, yes, new posts will show up in the blog roll in the order of creation. They can also be found under the menu item (i.e. page) you indicated the post should go under when you were in the editor.

There is so many little details to be aware of. But, you seem to be doing great. Your site looks beautiful. You definitely are on the right path!

Take care!
Susan

P.S. I hear you about things taking time. But, best to start at the beginning. I realized this with photos. So, from almost the beginning, I started to compress them manually (not a plugin). But, since I had quite a few up already, it was an all day job to redo the ones I already had posted. =(

Thank you very much…hmmm I just uploaded a bunch of pictures today. but know nothing about having to compress, guess I better read about that next…LOL Thanks so much for the compliment on our site. I’ve been working day and night trying to get as many pages and posts added. My husband is writing all the content. Now I also need to work on keywords to try and get in to pop up on google. We have enough pages, plus have been sharing on Google + and Twitter, I still need to do Facebook and Pinterest. Gonna try to do at least one tomorrow. Talk with you soon. Terri

Between you and your husband, sounds like you have a good system going. Really nice. =)

Regarding compressing images, it's recommended to prevent pictures from slowing down a website.Seems like there is always one more thing to do. =)

Hi Terri, in my early days of Wordpress I've had the same problem but it's actually easy to understand. Like bluzy1 just said, pages are the framework of your site, post are the content. Think of a newspaper. Let's say it has 10 different topics on 10 different pages, like sports, politics, lifestyle etc. These would also be the pages on your website. On every page there are many articles. These would be the posts on your website. Once your pages (and menu) are ready you can place as many articles as you want there. Typically, on pages like the About Me page there's only one post. The Blog page is typically the one with the most posts. There can be 10 or 1000 posts but it's still only 1 page.

I am trying to buy a domain and why is it I can buy one at GoDaddy or Namecheap for say $.99 - $2.99 for the first year and the same domain on WA is $13.99-$15.99, will I not b

Hi Terri, you can transfer your domain name to the servers here at WA if you purchase them at Go daddy or name cheap. Domain registrar's are businesses like any other, so from time to time they run specials. That's why we see these specials. I use all three for various reasons. If you are going to use WA hosting then perhaps it makes sense to get domain from WA.

Thank you, ya I’m just really confused. I understand the specials and then the following year its higher at the other sites. If I happen to buy one on sale…say at Go Daddy, then I transfer it to WA, for the next year do I pay go daddy for the renewal? Is it whom ever you buy the domain from, you always have to renew with them…the domain itself?

Where you buy the name is where you renew that domain. You can choose to host where you want. Hope that answers your question. I find with go Daddy there are quite a few up sells I mainly look at there service to buy specials which they offer on a regular basis when you are a customer. In turn with a view to flipping ( on selling ) those domains.

ok…that answers my question..Thank you

I don't recommend either WA or Godaddy for webhosting. Someone today complained that her website was taking an average of 18.8 seconds to load. Before moving mine from WA to Inmotion Hosting I was running about 10.5 seconds on average. It's now less than 2 seconds. I recommend making effective use of the great training at WA but using a host with faster servers for webhosting. I also recommend that you find out if a webhost uses port 25 for sending emails. It's best that they not.

wealthy affiliate is loading faster for my website that I am hosting here. 2.35 seconds. You can test any wealthy affiliate hosted website here
http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/

Thank you for your information. I will definitely take that into consideration. I am completely new to this and know nothing when it comes to the domain hosting and emails.

Thank you. I wonder if it matters what theme a person uses on wordpress or how much content and pictures and videos they have??

You are having better luck than several others at WA. I consistently got 10 or 11 second readings until I switched webhosts. Have you tried to send emails from Wealthy Affiliate's servers? When I created a domain-specific email account at WA I could only receive emails and there were other members at WA who complained about problems sending emails. It might have something to do with geographic location.

No. I have not tried to send emails from Wealthy Affiliate's servers. All I know is that websites hosted here at wealthy affiliate loads fast.

You will not be able to transfer your domain name from GoDaddy or name cheap to wealthy affiliate but you can host your domain name you purchase from these companies here.

The difference when buying a domain name here at wealthy affiliate is that you will avoid upsells that you will get from Godaddy or Namecheap. You will get the peace of mind knowing that you do not need to deal with DNS settings, etc...

You can read more about WA domain names here Cheers

Thank you for the quick response and the information

You are welcome. Cheers ;)

Glad to see you are making progress. A domain is an essential element you need to be successful on line. When comparing these and/or other products or services I try to be sure to look closely. My experience has shown me while comparing WA with GoDaddy and NameCheap and the others it's like comparing apples to oranges. WA offers so much you would have to purchase separately. I like more for less in the long run.

Hi Gaylon thank you…yes I have built my site with the free siterubix, but feel that it would be a lot better if we had our own domain, so we are extremely tight with money otherwise I would not be comparing. thanks again

There are many different suppliers of URLS and they can all have different pricing. Check out what the renewal pricing will be as well as this can vary

Hi Sharon, yes I had already noticed the next years price is a different price. I have not had a chance yet to read the link that “queenofkings” sent me, it might answer all my questions, but I guess i’m not understanding the transfer stuff, but going to read that now, and if it doesn’t answer what I need I will be back with my questions. thanks so much!!

Does WA only support .com, .info, .org domains?? What happens if I bought a .co or .us, or something else? would I not be able to transfer it to WA for hosting? Is it really b

We support MANY other domains. You can buy .co, .us, in fact, over 100 different TLD's. If you do a search for a domain using the SiteDomains platform for any of these specific domains, you will see they are available:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains

Also, you can host these domains here at WA here within your hosting. That is not an issue at all. If you ever have any further questions or issues, do let us know Terri!

Kyle, thank you. I did read it is better to have .com or .net… does it make that much difference. If so I will definitely get .com or .net
