Google AdSense Drop 06-27-16

Well, after my last post, I didn't think I'd be blogging about a drop, but, yes, I am now. There has been a drop off in AdSense earnings as you can see in the pic.

At first I thought - well, Google - right? There's no way to predict whatever they're up to, and no way to "control" the effects... other than to keep going, of course.

So, that's what I've been doing. Keep on keeping on, as they say. But, I did become suspicious. It's been nagging at me. Have I done anything to my site? ...no. Was I clicking my own ads? ....no. Is something going on in the world... well, yes. So, it "could" be current economic events... but I doubt it. Most of my AdSense earnings are generated in the U.S., so, no, another country's exit in the EU should not be affecting my AdSense earnings. Hmmm.. what could it be?

So, guess what I did? I Googled "what's going on with AdSense!" :)

Apparently, there are other people realizing a downturn in earnings, so I know now that it's not something I did - inadvertently. Then, I came across another discussion in one of the forums that mentioned something about Mobile... and now, I remembered.

A few weeks ago, Google notified me of some sort of choice between this ad or that ad to show on mobile devices. I chose and didn't think much about it after that. In fact, I even had forgotten about it until I read this downturn may be correlated with their new roll out for mobile ads. Aha! ...So, if they are giving a choice to those who advertise in AdWords, that choice would affect AdSense earnings. But, I don't know for sure because I do not currently advertise anything. My traffic is "au naturale."

So, I wrote this little post to both notify those who do use AdSense, and to ask those who may use AdWords if there's now a choice to advertise between pcs or mobile devices. I thought Google would have decided where and how often to advertise using the amount allotted per day, but maybe they did give people a choice. I don't know... What say you?

Good to know thank you

Thanks for bringing this up. I will definitely look into it and apply thus knowledge.

Interesting.

Irrelevant question but how do you write your name at the bottom of your post like you have when you sign your name?

I see a lot of users here do it but can't seem to find out how.

Sam.

For that one, I used fontspace(.)com. You can also Google fonts or script fonts, etc.

Thank you.

I'm going to check it out.

Much appreciated.

Sam.

You're welcome!

There could be other factors like someone directed people to your site and now that post has moved off their page...I have noticed when I get an increase it is usually because someone else has liked what I have done and got an increase...

Well, that's the problem, there's so many variables that it's hard to pinpoint the cause. But, seeing that it's "trending" downward, this seems to be a result of some sort of change, and I think the change in AdWords may be the cause - in the short term.

But, I also think that since Google is here to make money, whatever change they may have implemented will work out in the end. So, for now, back to the drawing board for me... I just need to keep doing what I'm supposed to be doing and add good content.

In the end that is what counts and when you are making $1,000's you probably won't notice small fluctuations...

Yes - I agree! ...won't care either!

So that's your next goal? To get so far ahead it won't matter ?

I'm quite sure this happened to me recently. A huge spike in views, then back to normal.

Infolinks may be a good alternative:

Hi - I like it! Thanks for the link, and yes, I will add this to my arsenal of multiple income streams.

Thank you
