Pay Per Click Marketing
Updated

if i were to start affiliating with a company of sorts is there an upfront payment i would have to make to than after start making money from clicks? might be an odd question

Most affiliate programs, if you can call them that, that typically you have to pay to enter the program are network or multilevel programs. I am a member of one where I pay a monthly fee, and with another one that I don't pay.

Watch out for affiliate programs that require you to pay. Some are legitimate ones, others are not. Some require for you to buy their products or services so that you can talk about their products with personal knowledge.

There are thousands of affiliate programs in hundreds of niches where you don't have to pay to sell their products.

You can join an affiliate network, for free, and join their advertisers related to your niche for free. Affiliate marketers in those networks are called "publishers".

Some networks: ShareASale, FlexOffers, CJ, LinkConnector. Some of these might have changed names.

Blessings.

Thank you!

Hi Nikodemas and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
As Roy mentions below, there are a few affiliate programs out there that do have fees but there are thousands that do not.
It is important not to start signing up with Affiliate companies too soon, at least not until you have some content on your website, maybe 20-30 posts. Without content you will have no traffic and without traffic you will have no one to click on your affiliate links.
Many affiliate programs will actually check out your website and if you have little or no content and/or little or no traffic they will not accept you. If you are planning to sign up with Amazon, they will expect you to make at least 3 sales in the first 180 days and if you have no traffic this will be difficult to do and Amazon will cancel your account.
Just our recommendation. Good luck to you.

Thank you very useful information!

Hi - as the others have said, you rarely have to pay. However, do be aware that typically a visitor has to purchase through your links for you to get commission. You don't get paid for clicks with the majority of programs.

I have not paid for any affiliate programs and I promote 11. Good luck and follow the trainings. It will all make sense as you go thru the trainings. And ask questions.... like you are.

Hello Nikodemus,

Thank you for your question. If I hear you correctly, you can join almost any affiliate program free of charge. So in other words to get started it will cost you nothing to join.

I am a member of one particular program that costs money, however, this is more than a normal affiliate program, so I did have to make a payment in the first instance. Although this did include training and much more and it was lifetime membership.

I hope this helps.

Roy

allright thank you for your answer!

saying that you paid for a program how does that work? is it a more lucrative for you or is it just something that interests you more and maybe you want to participate deeper yourself?

No problem Nicodemus, it's a pleasure!

This program that I am part of is more lucrative, however, for the time being, I don't want to overcomplicate things for you. As there are plenty of free affiliate programs that work really well.

I'm guessing that you're fairly new to affiliate marketing? So I would definitely stick with the training here at Wealthy Affiliate rather than heading for the next shiny object!

Roy

I have just started today but i am very excited as i believe affiliate marketing could be just what ive been looking for
thank you for your answers and looking forward to communicating more!

Good morning Nicodemus,

One of the mistakes I made back in 2004 when I started researching Internet marketing online, was that I didn't know anything! I was working totally blind!

The great thing is with Wealthy Affiliate, it really is a genuine opportunity to learn. I would buy a product and before I had hardly paid for that product, I would see something that I thought looked better! Don't do this, it cost me a fortune! Many of the products were spam products, I didn't know what was good and what's bad, it was all guesswork next?

If you stick with the training, take action, ask questions along the way, you will be successful.

Just remember that it takes time to build a business, whether it's online or off-line, I have both.

Have a great week.

Roy
