Profitability vs. Likeability

Yes I know, "Likeability" is not really a word. However, it fits my point that I am about to explain. I have been a successful marketer for many years now in the brick and mortar world and also online. I have been able to gather groups, gain followers, gain fans, and a good amount of customers. However, I noticed that I have spent too much time giving away my knowledge for free just because I liked people and felt bad about asking for payment for my knowledge and services.

I had to understand that it isn't about being liked, it isn't about being friendly, its about being a professional and seeing myself as such. Sometimes, in the online world, direct sales, or even network marketing, it's easy to to forget that we are actually providing professional services. I had a take a step back and simplify my intentions for the information I have been sharing and what my ultimate goal was for what I am sharing. From that, I discovered that there will be content and information that I will choose to share for free, because I just enjoy providing value to people's lives and careers. There will however, be additional information that I have personally research, assimilated, and analyzed that I feel I should share for profit. And guess what, that's okay.

I hope this personal realization helps someone else reading it. Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to you all!

Great info. Yes you are right we need to treat
our business like a business.

Glad you agree Ken! It is so easy to forget in the online arena! :)

Yes, we can get rapped up the fast pace, thing can
get very impersonal. We lose the human connection.
We certainly need to remember it is our business.
Treat people with respect and respect our business
at the same time.

I completely agree Ken, you hit the nail spot on!

That is because I have an excellent hammer ... LOL
