First things first. Get some paper and a pen or pencil. Sit down and think about what you want your website to do. When you have your answer, use your paper, and pen or pencil.

Now its time to get creative. You need to think about what the main thrust of your site will be. Are you marketing one product, or a whole line of products.

Start writing down some of your thoughts. They will be points that you need to ponder and make some decision about. If you are just starting out, I don't suggest that you begin wanting to develop a massive Mall type store. First create a site that centers on a line of products that are all of the same general type. You need to be able to classify them under a single generic term. Or if they have a brand name even better.

Next step is to think of all the words that would classify what the product is, you see you are looking to come up with all of the keywords that are generally used to express what you are selling.

When Google's bots finds and searches your site it will know what your products are, and based on that information when they find someone searching for those products that you have setup on your sites pages that are similar to what people are searching for, google will have made connections to those people, and will send them to your site. And if your products are what they are looking for and at the right price, you may have a sale. So pay attention and do everything according to each of the steps outlined.
