They say to paste it into the HTML of mysite.com, right after the <head> tag..? I'm definitely missing something here...
Ok, I created a text widget and put the code into it. It sits at he bottom right...as a shaded empty box. Sound right..?
You need to go into your editor and select header.
Adsense is saying the paste the code right after the <head> tag. (This is the beginning of the "head" area.) But this is not quite correct when you're using WordPress.
The place to paste the code is just above </head>. (This is just before the end of the "head" area.) You need to click into the code before the </head> line to make a space then paste in the code.
It's always a good idea to back up your website before you make any changes, as editing the code has the potential to break your site.
"You need to go into your editor and select header." WHERE is the "editor" in WordPress? Do you mean Appearance->Header? All that gives me is the header picture. Settings -> General gets me to Title. Some of us beginners here are not understanding what you mean, but it's obvious you understand this clearly. Please help.
Hi JoanGC. I realize I did not explain that very well.
From your dashboard (left-hand side) select "appearance", then select "editor". Then go to the right side of the screen and select "Theme Header" (Header PHP).
The attached shows my Theme header code. The highlighted portion is the adsense code that I inserted. Your header code may be a bit different, but make note of where I placed the code.
Find the </head>, place a space before it and then paste in your adsense code.
These are the instructions I was given when I was in your situation.
A bit of advice - Take a screen shot of your header code before altering it, or make a copy of your adsense code. That way, if for some reason it does not work, you can restore your header code to pre-manipulation.
Hope this helps!!
HI it's been more than 2 weeks since I joined google adsense,
"We’re reviewing your site.
Reviewing your site will take up to 3 days. We'll email you when we're done."
the message is still same, it's not yet approved. what I did now I get code again and had followed your instruction and I think it's more clear now where I can paste the code.. But is it possible to get new code then place it again to the header? then I need to wait wait for another 1-2 weeks for the approval?
I didn't enter it in the header, I put it in a widget in my sidebar.
If you go into your dashboard and then go to appearance, in the drop down menu go to widgets and then click on text widget and put it where you want in your sidebar and then open the widget and put the code in the big box. You do not have to put in a title, once the code is in go to the bottom and click on the blue save widget box. When you then go to your site it will be there. Xx
You are the first person to explain it to where I could understand it. Thank you very much.
You're welcome, sometimes what I call an idiots guide would be more helpful. Glad you were able to understand it. Xx

This should be easy but I have not been able to figure it out..
Thx for your input all. Issue solved, I created a right sided widget called, 'post categories' with a drop down menu telling the number of posts under each category. Helped also to clean up the TOP menu by removing those items. All good.. :)
Tried the link. Says "This Domain Name Has Expired - Renewal Instructions" the message is linked to a renewal form.
When you post your pages where do they go? All mine go to my home page which is my blog roll so which page is your blog roll? It may be something you ticked in your general settings.
Hi Margaret,
All my posts go to my Home page (blog roll). I guess what I'm trying to do is assign each post to a 'Home' (mind, body, or soul) page, in an effort to present the information in a more organized manner.
This should be an easier task than it turning out to be.
Mark
You can do this in menu. Marion Black has done an excellent training video that you might like to watch. Drop Down Drag and Drop Menu With Custom Links and Non-Clickable Headings
Do your menu selections point to categories or to pages named for your categories? If you create a page for each category, and configure the page with a blog scroller widget in the content area, and the widget on each category page takes blog posts from just that one category (and your posts are categorized) then if I understand what you're trying to accomplish, I believe this will do what you're looking for. Be sure to have your custom category pages (not the categories themselves) as your menu selections.
Hey Ralph,
Thx for your input. Think I got it figured. For a not so technically inclined WA'er this was a big win for me. Categories, pages, widgets can at times overwhelm. On to the next challenge...
Cheers,
Mark
Hey Margaret,
Thx for the suggestion. Got it figured out, in a way I had not imagined. On to the next tech challenge...

I created a widget with a drop down menu (left side) labelled - "Post Categories". The drop down provides the number of posts in each category. So, I removed the categories from my TOP menu. I like it, TOP menu is clean with only 3 items: HOME, PRODUCT REVIEWS, and ABOUT ME / PRIVACY POLICY. I managed to collapse the last two into a single TOP menu item. When You hover over ABOUT ME the PRIVACY POLICY button appears. A double win..!! Have a look if you want:

It could be the theme you have chose. Maybe see if you can select a different theme. My posts go right to my home page.
Hey Scott,
My posts go to my Home page (blog roll) as well but I'm trying to assign them each to a 'home' page, in my case one of 3 top menu choices in an effort to clean things up and present info in a more organized fashion.
I think this should be an easier task than it is turning out to be..
Mark
Does that mean you want the post to be on the home page? From my understanding that would require the home page to be a static page with the set category.
Hey Daniel,
My posts go to my Home page, but for the purpose of better organizing my information I would like to assign the posts to one of three top menu choices.
I think I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be.
Mark
A little confused by this one. With my theme, Wisteria, I define whether the home page is a static page or blog page. My blogs (posts) are automatically saved to my home page in reverse date order. It is determined under Settings - Reading.
Hey Steve,
My posting situation is the same as yours in that they go to my blog roll (Home page). I would like to assign them to one of three top menu choices in an effort to present the info in a more organized manner. Am I making this more difficult than it needs to be..?
Mark
Mark,
Good question. I think it may be a bit redundant. How about if you do what I have done. I do not add my blogs to the pages in my menu, but I do place the blogs in categories so the blogs can be searched by topic. Would that give you the same effect? Might be a good question to ask others who are more experienced than me.
Thx Steve, I'll throw that out there and see what comes back. Thx for your input.
Cheers,
Mark

cannot locate URL..?
After several months of no site development, I attempted to return and I get "cannot locate site" response.
Need to fix this problem.
It may have self-corrected. I have plenty of credits, so thats not it. Almost seems like a link is broken. Gonna try Site Support.
Thx Jerome

Mrkmccllch hope the problem is solved. Do as advised I have done mine. Thanks for that question.
Login to your Google plus account. Than, click on the picture-->Google+.
Your Google+ URL should look something like this - https://plus.google.com/1173024537582
I hope this helps!
Do you mean, like you want to have a custom URL?
I am trying to past the link, but apparently WA think it's spam or something and I can't paste the link.
You might want to search "Get a custom URL for your Google+ profile" and you want to click the first one.
Not totally positive what you mean, but the general Google Plus URL is https://plus.google.com/

The widget is set up but can't click on it, how to add content?
I clicked on the Custom Menu widget and put the Privacy Page and my About Me page in my side menu on 1 of my sites. It worked out fine. Hope this helps.
You create the link as you would any other link. '
Type 'anchor' text.
highlight it and click on link icon
enter URL for privacy page
Mickeyb
Make a new menu for your privacy, call it colophon or something, and add your privacy to that menu, add a custom menu widget to your sidebar and point out to the new menu, that should do the job, later you can add contact and affiliate disclosure to that menu too

I have pasted it in to widgets in my sidebar but nothing has changed, is this right? I thought you were suppose to have a little box there until you were approved?
Do you have an ad blocker running. If so, you won't see the ad copy.
I think I might have the ad blocker on, i'm not sure I will have to check the settings
