Growing Pains

While spending my entire adult life as an employee, at times I found myself envying people that were self-employed. I had always imagined that being one's own boss would be the best thing in the world (it is) - having people work for YOU, set your own hours, and enjoy all of the "freedom" that comes along with working for yourself.

Well, needless to say, since I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I have learned that being your own boss is not the easy road I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the process, but making the transition from employee to self-employed takes a different type of discipline that I didn't expect. For the past few weeks I have felt almost like the child who is learning how to do things for the first time: walk, talk, eat properly.

The Wealthy Affiliate system, particularly its Bootcamp training, is the best personal experience I have had in quite a while. This is called Bootcamp for a reason - I have stretched my brain like never before experienced several emotions at once while training: excitement mixed with wariness, confident one minute, self doubt the next, happy on Monday, frustrated on Tuesday & Wednesday. At the end of the day, though, I felt I was one step closer to my goal. I now can almost imagine how Bootcamp training in the armed forces must really be like.

Although I haven't been as active as I should have been these past few weeks (self doubt can be physically and emotionally draining!), I still would not trade my current situation for anything in the world!

I advise anyone that may be going through the same "growing pains" as I have (and still have at times), just keep persevering and don't give up. It does get better!

Hello Margaret I understand what you are going through since I still have my daytime job and I have to grow my website and my business. I feel the "growing pains" you are talking about. However, the process will probably be rewarding if you persevere. Go girl!

I am ok that it might take me a little longer than some other WA members, but I won't stop. There will always be a market for what we at WA are doing (7 billion people the world over, you can't go wrong). I just look forward to being in a position about a year or so from now when I look back and can realize that this process was not so bad.
