What do you tell people when they ask about Niche?

Do you know what Kyle really says about niche? Do you know that there are successful marketers employing TWO basic approaches to niche, one of which is to pursue a passion and the other is to crunch numbers using a keyword tool and an equation, and that BOTH of those approaches are equally valid and successful and both are taught on the WA platform here.

WA is a training platform AND a business, we do not want our referrals being told to take the wrong direction - like drop a niche they love or embrace something too broad - and subsequently head out the door in desperation because of bad advice, which honestly I'm seeing a lot of on this subject the past few weeks by inexperienced people giving answers in the classrooms.

I've compiled a resource to show you PRECISELY WHAT KYLE SAYS about niche, and links to other good training by very successful and experienced members on the platform, which is available to all levels of membership. And also to Magistudios Premium training.

  • Full transcript of Lesson 3 OEC video 'It Starts with a Niche'
  • Selection of Kyle quotes often missed on the subject of niche

  • Selection of successful members' blogs and trainings on niche
  • And more...

- If you are new and starting off this will be a useful resource for you to grasp niche clearly with lots of examples. See how Kyle gets you to refine your niche yet follow your interests, not too broad and not necessarily too narrow.

- And if you answer questions this would be some basic training for that.

Answering Questions - About That...

On that note, a timely reminder from one of our real SuperAffiliates VitaliyG with 12 years mega success in the online marketing space about knowing the answer before you reply, as bad advice nearly cost him a referral recently.

Thanks a lot sharing the awesome quote over there, so simple and very true.

Thanks Pedro! I've put 5 awesome Kyle quotes here if you scroll down, they are the stuff people seem to miss :)

Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the update Moz Mary! Those links are very helpful.

Tried and True

Elaine

Thanks for the encouragement Elaine! :)

That is an awkward situation you describe. The site ranking system is a barometer of current activity, not expertise or long-term marketing experience. But how is an absolute newbie to know?

The mere existence of such a ranking system incentivises some people to crank it out, whether or not their content adds value to discussions, the site, or their own personal brand.

As part of this numbers game, I observe here, on repeated occasions, the outright plagiarism of others’ content.

N.B. People: paraphrasing or ‘spinning’ others’ writing is still plagiarism.

Taking to the original article with a thesaurus is not an honest day’s work. I’m already familiar with the original. Just f$&*ing mention the original article you read and then TELL US WHAT YOU THINK OF IT.

...Unless of course that’s just too much bother and this is just about maintaining site ranking and presence. In which case I do apologise, carry on getting your referral link indexed, yet again.

On the matter of bad advice, I sometimes curdle when I see discussions about copyright, publishing, you know, legal stuff. These are topics in which I’ve had more than a touch of professional experience. I shouldn’t have to prelude any comment I provide on these topics with a CV. But honestly, some days...

You’ve raised this discussion elsewhere, previously. Thanks for that. I agree that ranking through activity encourages spurious comments and unhelpful advice at times. Unfortunately, I don’t know what the best solution for it is, since for the most part, the culture of learning and helping is a healthy one here.

BTW: how can one opt out of being on the lottery dip of comments and site feedback here?

Hello Ivy! You will never have to present a cv, you just swoop down like a majestic eagle... ;)

Would be great to know more about copyright and all that if ever you get time

I never submitted to comments and feedback but it's interesting you want out :D

He certainly has told newbies to go answer questions but has put no checks in place to stop it getting out of hand, he could easily cap newbies or any member within a certain rank bracket, most sane people love to help anyway...but it can get out of hand with some personalities who crave it at any cost

I hope the transcripts will now take away some of the excuses for bad answers, no longer so easy to misquote Kyle, or tell newbies to do the opposite of his training!

and newbies may be easier able to spot bad advice and ask questions from a better place...

Transcripts are always wonderful, thank you!

I think it’s been pointed out by a few people here, that some of the highest-earning affiliates in this community are so busy with their work, that their ranking is not really that amazing.

These are the same seasoned players who might dip in quickly for an occasional comment, always gold.

Notwithsanding such input though, when the training is already so comprehensive, it seems needless to look any further for answers than for what you’ve already paid for, right? ;)

an experienced person might know that but when there is now a 'top helpers' official area and random hyperactive person ranks #4 sits beside the top 3 who are the owners and official coach, ...hm, I'd be lost if I were new in...

Yes, for sure! To which I repeat my cranky pants comment about content duplication:

If the aim is just to just keep cranking it out for the sake of ranking, and it matters not whose or what it is, such a plagia poster risks presenting themselves as being experienced with a topic they've actually very little familiarity with. Their readers may begin to place undue trust in their views.

This site is not the first or only one to be afflicted with rank-keen spinners, though. And generally, the Internet is at some weird crossroads where there is a desertification of good content going on. But few seem to realise it.

love that !

-undue trust being placed in inexperienced people, Kyle can't seem to see it nor the consequences of it

- desertification of good content!!! Yes, the situation is serious and a strategy would be good because WA seems to be a lone little candle flame about 'no duplicate content', 'no content curation', yet within the ranks like you said people get rewarded for duplication, copying, and same with those who give answers an inexperienced person can literally take over by regurgitating and copying and it works out about 50% hit and miss best case scenario - with consequences for newbies and those who refer them...!

I always wonder when people 'outsource' content just where on earth they think it comes from! I do hope google catches up with its algorithms, I'm at a point I think I need to write what I want copied, and just hope they do so accurately :D

N.B. I'm typing... slowly... with one finger because at home I'm in bandages after a kitchen accident. Apologies for all typos and crankiness!

Back in the early 90s, while I was studying music, I was approached by a chick who wanted music lessons. Could I teach her, and all her friends? A couple of different instruments? Please, K TY?

You see, they had formed a band, and they had already worked out their PR and look. They were going to be famous. But there was just one snag - not a one of them knew how to play or read any music. Not a one had ever picked up a musical instrument.

Meanwhile, I was practicing my thousands of hours; was in a course for which I had competed for a spot with a series of auditions and interviews and tests. OMG. What a hilarious contrast of existence.

I often think of her request when I consider the crisis of content online. I sometimes also think about how my little student cohort was one of the first around the world to test drive the first web browser, and how funny the promise of hyperlinked text in a web that seemed to carry only four pages in the whole world.

That band is not unlike the casual punter who wants to be 'internet famous' and immersed in traffic, but is not quite sure what for. You wanna blog; but you hate the written word and take no personal pride in anything you may print. Devil may care where the words came from. It could be from the back of a food wrapper you picked up off the ground outside.

You must churn out content, this is the mantra. Your presence is more important than your word. But Godalmighty, so much of it is dross. Why are we to divert any time from our already too-busy lives to read any of it?

So, back to that one snag, content. I see an existential dread creeping in on the fringes of all kinds of publishing industries that have fallen into the 24/7 edict (yes, not just online). An unhealthy conflation of the 24hr news cycle; advertising saturation, and celebrity PR has redirected the promise of that early web. Advertising was once in the service of industries of various kinds, now it works the other way.

Existential dread. Like, oh, $h!te, what am I going to write?

But here's the cure to that false dilemma: You are all human beings, and there is so much that you already have to share, buried deep within. To be human is fascinating; write what you know, and condemn everything that pulls you away from your honest self. We sometimes act like we need to be slaves to algorithms, but in truth, our behaviour over time is more than capable of reshaping everything they do.

Lead more; follow less. Be brave and beautiful.

Hi, Mary,

Time is money, money is time, and a success for everyone.
Well done. Becky

Thank you. Most helpful.

Thank you! Best wishes online! :)

I've got hat thank you Moz Mary for the information

The key to effective user success and development!

Thanks Mary,This is good advice. I never answer questions as I don't think I am knowledgeable enough at this point, however I do spend time reading, learning and I am quite qualified to encourage and congratulate on success, that's enough for now.
Jenny

Engaging is very rewarding and it's a nice friendly platform, very dynamic too, so much to learn from each other and encouragement when we need it - all very valuable assets!

Just be careful of advice and 'help' and even the high ranked stuff, make sure it ties in with what Kyle actually has in the training and look at the experience of the person online too.

OK thanks Mary, will do.

Good reminder. I frequently go back to training classes. there is always more to learn. Personally, I think passion is the best route to take.
Sandy
