Hurricane Ophelia to hit Ireland Tomorrow!

I've been watching many of you go through the entire hurricane family out there, with Harvey and Irma and the rest, but was not expecting one to travel our direction in Ireland, no idea how Ophelia even found us - anyone missing a hurricane out there?!!

We don't normally get a red status alert for weather here at all, the Gulf Stream gives us a pretty even climate of rain, rain, and more rain all year round, hence the green 'Emerald Isle', while we watch the rest of you suffering with heatwaves, snowstorms and hurricanes we just complain of the rain and talk about the weather all day...so what are we going to do now?!!

RED STATUS WARNING IN EFFECT. Tomorrow Monday will be very stormy as Ex-Hurricane Ophelia, tracks northeastwards over the country. Violent and destructive gusts are expected with all areas at risk....potential risk to lives and property...

*'ex-hurricane' to you guys, maybe, not to us...schools, unis, businesses are all closed tomorrow in anticipation...

WA Member Escapes Harvey With Her Life, Loses Everything

Just for a bit of perspective, though things could get bad here in Ireland and flying debris is a serious risk for life, and yes we will likely lose internet and electricity, however I'm grateful in advance that we are NOT going to see anything like Texas, as relayed here to me by a WA Texan while going through Harvey, she lost her home, had to be rescued in rising waist deep water [she is on a break at the moment]

During Storm Harvey

Aug 28th Everything is touch and go here I'll write more in a bit lol

Aug 29th We are now in the thick of this storm. Voluntary evacs with nowhere to go lol. Evac routes are under water. We are on some of the highest land here and we are now flooding as the lake has breeched its banks. Curfew issued for 7 pm for all residents until 7 am tomorrow. This is the worst we have seen. Wind gusts to 50+ mph, heavy rain and lightning. Oh well, it's an adventure! Rain should be by us some time tomorrow afternoon. TEXAS is devasted! Talk more later!

Sept 8th We are fine. In Shreveport, Louisianna area. We were rescued last Wednesday and shipped here. We lost everything and are currently in a hotel room supplied by FEMA. Waiting on all the disaster stuff to go through. We were rescued by jet ski after wading in water waist deep inside our rv. It was definitely scary! Talk more later.

WOW, eh. Some people just don't panic. I won't say her name, she'd kill me, but Debs you are an inspiration to all of us, and especially now as we are about to head into Ophelia ;)

Her emails were very disturbing for me to READ at the time, but she went through that, phew. And whatever about losing your home, it's a whole other story losing your computer, your internet connection?!! lol :D

Update after Storm Ophelia:

Monday 7.30pm WOOHOO! Ophelia has passed through the country and got much weaker as it went through, apparently the south got hit hard and lives have been lost, but by the time it hit the midlands it was just a strong wind, the electricity was gone just an hour for me but for up to half a million others it will be much longer, days in fact - so thank you guys for all the positive energy as I sure am feeling it with how lightly I got off compared to many others :)

The scientists and media had been creating a lot of hype for days both in Ireland and Northern Ireland [UK]. A friend in Belfast rang me 'mid-hurricane' to report the supermarket shelves had been 'cleared like xmas' up there, the electricity did go during his call as if Ophelia wanted to make a point, however nothing like the red alert weather peeps were told to expect, ...what was supposed to be the worst incoming storm in 50 years turned out to be less than that, thankfully! :)

Thank you guys for all the positive energy for Ireland's first [and last!] hurricane!
