Week 2 of 2018

I hope the first two weeks of 2018, has gone well for you? As for me, it has been awesome. I do my best to choose words that describe my life and events in a positive way. I understand the power in the descriptions I tag onto my life. The reality is that my life will consist of a mix of the good and the not so good. My hope is to maintain a balanced approach no matter which way things evolve.

When things are well, I tend to look at life as it's all great and awesome! On the other hand, when things are not going well, life may seem disastrous and the sky is falling. Before I jump off the curb of life and into the highway of living, I must keep a perspective that ALL things will change and my life is getting better.

One of my mentors shared with me the best way to tell if I'm growing or improving in any area is to determine if I am making new mistakes in the areas that have troubled me in the past. For instance, I tend to struggle with my emotions when I get angry or upset or something bothers me. My journey of blogging, being a courier, parenting, and managing relationships, is a full-time commitment. When I'm upset, I take a minute or count to 10 before I take action. Recently, I was able to do that and it made a difference in how things turned out. A failure to communicate did not turn into "I'm not speaking to you" or "you don't understand." There have been instances where I need to wait a day or two before I respond! If I need to apologize, I must make this a priority.

So far, in 2018, I can report that life is not a destination; it is a journey. Enjoy the ride!
