Hello, I am Monique Richert, a singer-songwriter from Silent Island Projects. I was born and raised in Amsterdam. At the age of 28 years, I met my husband Gerhard.
Gerhard founded a diving center in Turkey, where he met me a few years later. I came to learn to dive, we were soulmates and as life sometimes wants, we've got married a year later.
We bought an old mahogany yacht from 1961, renovated them together on a hot, dusty shipyard in Bodrum, Turkey. After a few years of sailing in the Mediterranean, we set off for cross over the Atlantic, together with our female Dog Susi, a rescue dog they found on an icy winter night of 2000.
We sailed towards the Caribbean. Three weeks, pure life, water, wind, and stars. At first, we only wanted to spend three years in the Caribbean, but soon we realized that it was not just about sailing, we also wanted to enjoy the free life on board and the sea. We stayed for six whole years. It was important for us to get to know the country and their people, the culture behind it, the real-life, not just being a tourist. After six years we passed the Panama Chanel for our Pazific adventure, It was on those long journeys, there, on this huge, deep cobalt-blue ocean, as Gerd, watching and composing with the stars during his night watch, it was sometimes as if the Universe had its own sounds, its compositions would participate. Many nights he sat in the cockpit and collected these sequences, which are still today in his music.
I've got to know my talent for writing, started to write small travelogues next to the diary.
In 2009 we sold the boat in Malaysia, bought 2 bicycles, and traveled three months through Thailand and India with our bicycles. After these extreme experiences, we were tired of being on the road, we longed to be at there Farm in Hungary. We renovated the Farm and started growing our own organic vegetables and herbs.
In 2015, Gerhard bought a synthesizer, guitar, bass, and drums, and started composing as I spontaneously added the lyrics to a composition he'd played on a cold winter night. Within two hours, I had written my first lyrics. Since we did not have a singer, I started to take vocal lessons from Sylvia Lee, a singing teacher from Hamburg, and Voice Coach Robert Lunte, from Sun Valley, Idaho, at the same time I learned to handle the electric bass. Three years later, I felt safe and ready to sing in the meantime songs. In December 2019 we released our first Christmas Song, Saw You at Christmas Morning. In February 2020 we launched the song, Unconditional Love.
On the 8th of May, we released Song of Life, the video clip is on his way.
Our music Influenced by our almost 10 years of circumnavigation around the world and merging with other cultures, music is the expression of new world philosophy. We managed to break out of the busy being busy mentality, we had the guts to quit there save jobs, and found a way to live a happy, adventure, and harmonic life. Changing our luxury comfortable life into a life with a lot of luxury freedom. Living and learning close with the native people made us blessed and humble. Our experiences in life have to spread out into the world, showing other people how easy it is to break out and live the life you always dreamed of. We have so much to give, come with us on a journey into harmony, peace, and freedom

Your goals are totally realistic and when you achieve the first one, it will be just a matter of scaling to reach the second one. The Internet works wonderful when you have your formula for success down which you are going to be getting from the training here at WA.

Once you get this formula down the sky is truly the limit Monique! I look forward to working with you and seeing you make your goals a reality. :)

Hello Monique,
An interesting bio I must say.
I have friend who does scuba diving classes, but she is in Switzerland now.
There are quite a few musicians in WA, some who I follow.
I was once told I would be a good singer if I had a good voice.

I hope all is going well for you in WA, and I will follow you too.
Regards,
Michael.

Hi! Thank you for the following. I enjoyed reading your biography of travel, music love, and freedom, something I personally value very much. I grew up in Africa, My parents travel a lot with us, mostly by land. We traveled through the desert, the Nile river up to Egypt, and along the way we met a lot of other travelers just like you, so we might have met LOL...
I have a deep respect for the ocean, It is in some way smiler to the desert. The ocean is all water and the desert all sand with an amazing sky WAW. I love it although here in Germany I do not see much of it but I miss it very much.

looking forward to your blogs

Inspiring life story! I contemplated sailing too...but just dont like the idea of bad weather...and being dumped in the cold sea...sharks...pirates....being robbed at sea...seems scary...then theres the ultimate scare...total pitch darkness at nite...with only electronics to guide you...oh well...like anything...i could get used to it and not being used to it is the reason for the fear...another thing is having to moor the boat dump toilet waste and go to the supermarket to stock up on food...sounds expensive..

Thanks for adding me following u back !
To your Success !

Hello Chris, when sailing was so exhausting and dangerous, we would have only kept it full for 1 year. But life on a sailing boat is fantastic, we only sailed the barefoot route, so nothing with cold water. The nights are never completely dark, only in a heavy storm, normaly the nights are full of life, wales and delfins come over and travelt with us some days, fantastic ilumimating creatures who come to the surface, and you are always there, and watch when the moon turns its round. We were never lonely.
On the open sea, the toilet waste goes straight into the water, the fish love this healthy food, lol. We were never at the anchorage for long, only in overcrowded marinas, you have to go to a toillete, otherwise you can simply sail outside and pump off once a week. Is only organic right?
Sharks usually have more respect for people, but honestly I don't swim in the open sea either, only when something needs to be repaired. A dog is always good to have on board, most pirates don't like the noise and give it a big bow. but there are cases of piracy, that's true. We were lucky, a small boat and hardly any luxury, which is almost not worth capturing. ok you sometimes have to buy proviant for an pazific turn it wil take about a week, the the boat is full of good stuf, the curiosity and exitment before a sailing turn is a good motivator for all this stress. And don't forget when you're done you don't need to go shopping for about 2 months. everything is on board. So go ahead and enjoy the adventure, crossing a street in the city is sometimes more dangerous than a circumnavigation, and don't forget a city has more pirates. so happy sailing my friend.
Ps: thank you for the following. Monique
