Why Become a Specialist?
Have you heard of the saying, "If you're a Jack of all trades, you're a master of none"?
No doubt, you've probably also heard the phrase, "become a specialist" in WA or some other make money online forum. When I first heard the term "specialist", I didn't understand what it meant, or why I should become one.
What's a Specialist?
A specialist is someone who specializes in a specific area. Let me ask you a question. If you had to have heart surgery, would you want to see a general doctor, or would you want to see a heart surgeon?
I would want to see a heart surgeon. Why? Because I know that the heart surgeon has exclusively focused on learning how to do heart surgery, which makes him more skillful and an expert.
I'd trust him with me life, more than I would a general surgeon.
Specialists Get Paid More
If you notice, specialists get paid A LOT more than generalists. Why? Again, because they're highly skilled, they've focused on a specific niche, they're excellent at what they do, and there's very little competition. It comes down to the law of supply and demand.
The Law of Supply and Demand
Likewise, in the make money online world (or any other business), if you're a generalist, you won't make as much money as you would if you were a specialist, because of the law of supply and demand.
The more there is of something, the less value it has. In other words... you need to stand out.
How to Become a Specialist
Become a specialist by finding a unique angle in a specific market. For instance, don't just make a website about weight loss. Make a site about weight loss for diabetics.
Don't just make a site about make money online. Build a site about making money online with gift baskets. You get the idea. Focus on a unique angle, do your keyword research, then add value to your visitors.
Please "Like" if I've added value.
