I have a great talent for getting in my own way :( !
This is my second run through the training. Last year I attempted to start - and plumped for a vague 'creativity' based

@EnockNsubuga @onmyownterms Thank you Enock and Mel. I guess the weightloss journey would relate to a good number of people, just concerned that that particular niche has SOOO much competition - from 'experts' and big money too!

Well, you have a real story, that will beat the experts i guess.

Hello Moira, all of the above mentioned niches are good, but I think you missed a very critical one, “homeschooling.” I think more and more parents are getting disenchanted with the public school system and have decided to homeschool their child(ren). To me it has its pitfalls. How do you even start? What do you need to know about the government and your involvement? I could go on but I think you understand where I am going.

True! Thanks Harvey! I guess because its in the past now, I didn't really consider it. Also, I'm in the UK - rules are different all over the world and even in different regions of the UK (depending on the local authority). But I guess the main reason I put it aside, is because I ran a 'homeschooling support' website from1996-2004 (taught myself HTML to set it up!) because I needed support and the only place I could find it at that time was online from the US!!
My children are all grown now - the youngest is 19 - and I am positively out of touch regarding developments :D
But maybe, once I get my first WA site working and have a better understanding of the whole system, I might give homeschooling a shot for an additional site.

Very helpful. Thanks again :)

Hi Moira, i was there too, struggling with choosing a niche. Good for you, you have a few ideas going. Ever heard of turning your misery into success? Take the weight issue that you are battling with. Your niche could be about Helping people struggling with Weight. Since it's your pain, your website could be able solutions to this pain. Just thinking. Good luck with this though.

I like that phrase, 'turning your misery into success' I'm going to have to use that in the future. I had never heard of it before.

Oh cool, go head bro, use it whenever you can. It's something many winners in History have used.

Thank you!! (I replied above :) )

I would go with a 'weight loss' site that highlights your journey, efforts, etc. with product reviews for things like meal delivery services, fitness apps, exercise equipment, etc. The monetization would not be your initial focus - build up a fan base of people to cheer you on - Join a community like Spark people, tons of information. I have a site like this myself that is currently inactive.

Thank you !! (I replied above :) )

I have several domain names hosted elsewhere. I don't think I can even transfer them as I transferred them recently so there is a 6 month wait I believe if I need to transfer t

do you mean you want to move your site from WA to another server with a domain you purchased?

Not a problem, you can always move them to WA servers later if you want. There are many members here who host elsewhere so they have complete control over their sites. Its a personal choice although WA is making better and better upgrades to the hosting all included in your membership.

Thanks Mark :) good to know! But looking at the instructions, if I want to transfer my siterubix site to my purchased domain, I can't see how to do it here unless the domain is hosted at WA... Can you help?

Newbie here. Published first 3 pages. I chose the Ryan template but it doesn't work like Kyle's video shots. For one thing I can't see how to allow comments. Also when I load m

It's not the theme Moira. Comments are allowed on posts by default but if you want them on pages you have to enable them And don't worry about the home page thingy. After you publish your first post it (and others you publish as time goes on) will automatically appear on the home page.

Hi Marion and thank you for the advice :)

I figured I would get to the required info to solve the problem, but I completed the getting started training and suddenly discovered I could go no further until I upgrade. So I figured I had better post the question while I still could!!

I'm definitely going to go premium, but am unwilling to start right now, as the cost of months 2-4 will be beyond my current budget! What worries me is that I might lose the chance to interact with all the lovely WA members I am following :(

Thanks again for your help on this :) Hope I can continue to follow you...

Moira

Could you post your url?

oops sorry! yes

Ahh I'm not yet a premium member so I can't post a link. Its on the siterubix platform and its called creativepapers.
