Affiliate marketing - Poor strategy Vs Good Strategy
If you are in affiliate marketing, we tend to start putting links of the businesses we want to promote straight away.
Actually, we do not realise that the main asset in this is the referral (leads) you are sending through rather than the commission.

I think I would be rather disgruntled if I had to sign up to someone's website just to get a link to something I wanted to buy. I would either look for a direct route to the seller or I'd sign up and unsub once I'd made my purchase. Alternatively, I'd say stuff you, and look for another product. That's just my opinion. Perhaps your customers are less stroppy. :)
You are right but this is the business we are in. It's your choice at the end. Commission or long term business? There is no right or wrong answer. Everybody makes their own choice.
Fairly simple rule. To create a landing page and divert traffic to promotion or program you are promoting through that. That means you capture emails before they disappear in the online world.
Obviously you can't keep it to yourself but at least you are building foundation of your future business at the same time.
