I am curious to know if any of you do email marketing but have no website? If you do, how'd you get your list?

Kyle, I'm still frustrated get my site set up here, but as an ex flight instructor, and commercial pilot, I think I can give something to ponder, real learning happens in your own head, the advice of other is usually a reflection of failures and success, so take it for what it is.
Email marketing, especially those that use auto responders that throw emails at all your connections continuously can be bloody annoying, and the marked to go straight to the trash bucket, that aside, my personal belief is that if you parent as someone who is maybe able to improve that persons life, even a little bit, they will accept the mails, as something for them to consider, but must keep away from things that offer the world that really do nothing, offer products and systems that have a proven track record, otherwise the worst case scenario is your emails will be blocked, and you will left in a state that cannot be recovered from those that have had enough. Yes it has a good side if you are extremely careful, but the down side ruins your reputation. On average I delete 70 emails every morning, and the same at night, but I don't block or trash them immediately, I'll read them, out of respect of someone having a go!
Again ponder the plus and minus to email marketing, and think about the stuff that hits your inbox, when you have it there for important stuff, sorry for not a really quallifiable answer, but use your own experience of your inbox, and how many emails that are annoying , stuck inbetween the important things you need to know, personal, business etc....the annoying emails can take up your time getting rid of them, so it's a very careful path to follow.
My best regards
Chris
P.S
Hopefully my WA site will be running soon, it's been over a week and a lot of lost sleep due to time difference, being in Australia, but always think all will be good, even when it's frustrating, it's good to see you thinking about other methods of marketing, but it's important to take small steps, like me, the world owes you nothing, you have to give to get, you'll be fine. Crunch with friends, they will all have different opinions , which can be very valuable.

You cannot build a business without a website, and you cannot effectively build a relationship with your audience without a proper medium to communicate with them and build trust. A website.

If you are serious about creating a business online, a website is going to be your foundation for this.

I will check in to this. Thank you!

Mailchimp is your best friend in this case. :-)

How do YOU get started with your email list?

I made a pdf book with projects to do to give away if someone subscribes. I use Mad Mimi for an auto responder, the free version.:)

But how did you get your list started?

Not sure I understand what you're asking.
I put a signup form (made within Mad Mimi) on my website offering a free ebook to people who sign up. That's how I got my list started, by offering something free in return for signing up to my list.

Hope this helps. :)

Yes, it does. Thank you for your response!

Just curious...Is it via blog, website, email marketing, or other? I'm curious to see other ideas!

Website with blogs and reviews of other money-making software.

I was actually thinking of doing something like that! Being a newbie, I was going to take a look at some of what I've found so far vs. my experience at WA thus far. Thank you for sharing!

Also how did you get the screen prints for WA?

screenhunter 6.0 is free to use.
