How can I increase the field of members when I post. I only get a set few repeatedly. Is it possible to target members other than pm-ing them with questions?
Hi Mike,
Well, my guess is people either aren't checking their email notifications or they're getting so many that it's too hard to keep up with reading so many posts...
I know I'd love to read and comment on so many blog posts from you and others here, but recently started a new niche/business. So, I end up barely having the time to even skim through my emails lately, which was what I was doing just now and yours caught my eye...the word "messaging" popped out at me since I'm a bit frustrated with FB messages, and people that just leave a person hanging in the wind, LOL! Now, that's a subject for another day though.
Anyways, I do always love reading your posts, and if I read it, I'll at the least leave a like here. But as for commenting, by the time I get around to reading anything here it's sometimes so late in the day and I don't want to leave a comment that makes no sense at all since I'm too tired to be very coherent, lol.
One suggestion though, is to maybe use words in the title that create curiosity...it's what made me click to find out what you meant for this post about messaging...wasn't sure what messaging you were talking about so I had to find out more...hope I'm making sense!
Keep being awesome Mike!
Best wishes :) ~Sherry
Thank you, Sherry. That sets it in context I made a general statement today (see the top of thread).
Hi Mike, perhaps I'm not getting it. What is the thing that you're trying to accomplish - are you trying to reach more people with your posts? And are you asking how it is that only certain people see your messages? Thanks :)
Suehila
Hello Mike,
Sometimes when we cherry pick the messages we are going to answer we miss some of yours.
I only have 2.1k followers but many times I only get a handful of messages.
Sometimes when I read your posts I may hit the like button without leaving comments. If the comment I would write is already there than I would like that comment and move on.
I hope you can understand what I am trying to say.
Derek
Good afternoon Mike,
I like your posts but cannot always read/answer as you write a lot, but I am doing my best.
I looked at your profile. You follow 9.820 and are followed by 7.231
I would think that is a big enough audience.
These numbers provide sad proof that clicking on Follow does not mean the same for everybody.
Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske
Hi Mike, interesting question coming from you. Your posts are always a wealth of knowledge, and I would imagine everyone looks forward to reading your posts.
Michael
Hey Mike. Your posts are always interesting and informative. I enjoy them. Some I don't comment on because I feel I'm not qualified to do so beyond "great post" or "Thanks, Mike" which I'm sure you get a bit bored with. I'd say a lot of folks are like that.
You're post are thought-provoking and often require a bit of connective thought or contemplation. The average WA peep is so preoccupied with getting that next post out, doing research for the next post, developing their next great idea, that there isn't much time or grey matter free to devote to things outside that...or is that just me? :-)
I would love to have the ability to write some of the posts as you offer here...but I'm preoccupied with coming up with something for my site. Well, that and I don't have the grey matter to make that happen on a completely free day either. LOL
Think of it like you're WA's version of Radio Free Europe. Lots of folks are listening. They just don't get around to responding for one reason or the other but that doesn't mean the message isn't appreciated.
Hi - I presume you are talking about the blogs you post at WA. You don't get many responses, despite having over 9000 members in your network.
I wonder if perhaps people are not reading them, because usually, you don't tie your subject into how it relates to WA until the final paragraph.
Therefore, all they are seeing at a quick glance, are the opening sentences, which often just contain historical or scientific facts, which may be off-putting to some.
Just my opinion, and not a reflection on the undoubted quality of your writing.

Update 6/26. I'm picking up that the base of the situation is innocuous rather than programmed release batches of emails. I'm at peace with that.

I cant get a full centered image in site content. I get only the areas of the top 1/3 above the fold. The arrows do nothing when I "drag to position" Please help me with a tuto
I've had that problem too and have had to resize the picture but sometimes I have to make more than one attempt. It's been frustrating and I thought it was just due to my inexperience.
I have that problem with some of the images too Mike, some of them seem to be too large to use in site content. I search around for a smaller one if the post is for WA blog but if it’s an article for my website I upload and edit in Wordpress.
I don't have that problem with site content. Mike, you're not the only one though, MozMary is also having the same issue.
When using my smartphone I don't see the tiny box at the bottom right corner to resize my image like when I use my laptop. Aligning and editing is the same. I can position it anywhere it allows me to do so.
One thing to remember is that the image or photo you're uploading isn't too big. You would need to resize them before uploading to site content.
How did you originally get the image? You may need to resize it before you put it in your post. I hope that helps?
Colin

I read 1540 posts in WA but I believe it's 10 or so less that most people see. I need a accurate read of visible posts you see in my profile?
My literal mind I thought you meant that was the number if posts you have read
Lol.I now see the 1529.I am a little limited because I am on my mobile device.
Good Morning Mike,
On your profile I read 1529 posts. You will see still the ones that have disappeared I think.
Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske
I know, it happened to me also Mike. Loes explained this to me so I sent her a screenshot of my missing one. I asked Kyle why?, he answered one should not frighten newbies, I disagreed as I think one should not put one's head in the sand as these dangers exist. I also said it would have been nicer to be notified including the reason for a post being taken down.
Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske
One of the reality awakenings you learn about WA after you've been here awhile Taetske. Thank you!
Hi Michael
1529 - see attached.
I wonder whether what you see maybe counts the deleted posts as well, like the one from yesterday, for instance?
Flick a PM to Kyle or Carson so that they can look into it. Maybe it is a glitch with going over to the new User Interphase. New roll-outs usually have a few hiccups.
Wishing you all of the very best!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)
Thank you Sharlee that's what I suspected! Yes deleted posts are included in the total I see.
The pages are not long enough to show all your posts at the same time, Michael. On your profile page, we can see 10 posts with an option to View All. Even clicking on the View All link will only show the latest posts. To get the rest we need to scroll down or use the Page Down key.
At the top of your profile page, it shows 1,529 posts, 55 questions and 1 training.
Thank you Marion. See my response to Sharlee. It's the TOTAL displayed that is interesting. Some posts that are deleted are "phantom".I show 1540. I bounced this off Kyle once and that's what he sees. 11 posts have been pushed into an "incognito' zone. Therefore many see 1529.

I havent been using site content How do I find what the total words I've written are?
Each blog or article we write, mention of total words in them are normally shown and it would be burdensome indeed to manually count them
I am not sure that you can tell your word count pre site content Mike but it would be fair to say that you have created more words than the national average an amazing body of work.
One, two, three......
Or just guess - here's mine.
A Brillian!
And for those who don't know - a Brillian is a weighted average based on the number of words and their usefulness to others!
Which turns out to quite a lot!
right at the top of site content it gives you your total words written, number of articles published, etc.
good idea. you can use page layout software to get more flexibility with the page design if you like.
If you want to get a page count for your previous writing, you can probably
(1) open the file
(2) do a select all
(3) select copy
(4) open MS Word
(5) paste the content into Word.
There you can get a word count on the file.
I hope that helps.
I don't think I can select all files in the blog roll as a unit. too tedious to do them one by one I'll use the plugin!
No. you'd have to do them one at a time.
I do it one-by-one and paste my post content into Word to run the grammar and spelling checker. It doesn't take that long and I think Word's grammar checker is better than the Site Content checker. Sometimes they pick up different things especially questionable grammar and that's important to me.
Even with that my posts are not perfect but I want to do all I can to be as perfect as possible since that's my face to the world and it annoys me when I read a site with spelling and grammar errors. But that's just me. :)
Hello, Mike,
Just an overdue greeting to you. Great, you are always moving even outside SiteContent. Mine has been lagged behind and recently I broke through the gate of putting products into my site with WooCommerce, for which you are welcome to take a peek. Of course, leave comments if you read and liked there.
Again, always come with the best wish for health, happiness, and success to come in WA,...

Hello Mkearns,
I did the same thing and didn’t use SiteContent until midway through my blogs life. It currently shows 104k on SiteContent.
There is a plugin called, “Wp Word Count”. You can install it and delete it right after.
According to the plugin, I have 170,112 words out of 146 blog posts with an average of 1165 words per blog.
Hope this helps,
Eric

I love the new content editor and it's capability of showing words written for each post. Can I get the number from all my existing WA blog posts as well so I can see my total
Hey, as does Grammerly, the words written in Site Content Editor are the only ones counted. If you write the content elsewhere, copy and paste it into the Site Content Editor and it will be the same as writing it there.
WA must have some sort of idea of the word count for your blog posts. I'd ask. They use this information to rank your membership.
Regards, Henri
You may need a Wordpress plugin, Mike. I use "WP Word Count", which I occasionally activate to get a word count, then I deactivate it and save for another time.
Jim
In site content, and in the post editor, at the very bottom of the page where you write the bulk of your text is a number.
However, if you are writing posts manually in wordpress, it will not include those words in the count in SiteContent. SiteContent only keeps track of the number of words written there.
Your answer will be very helpful to many, Eden.
I could be wrong, but I don't think Mike is referring to posts written in Site Content, but rather, the WA posts written on this platform.
