WA ranking - a new time measurement

Last Update: July 11, 2019

Please believe me I post about WA rank because it's such a wierd anomaly with the new "algorithm" and for no other reason. Ranking is a psychological ploy and is a good example to use, but it should never be a business!. I have noticed this past week a steady drop in rank. It seems that while you're climbing, you get a boost here and there. When you level off or let slip even once with daily posting, however, you are moved to a downward gradient.

Monday- 62, Tuesday- 63, Wednesday- 64 and today- 65.drip, drip, drip.despite a post each day. By the rules of logic, tomorrow should be a read of 66. Here, the integrity of interfering with the time stream is being tested. By posting this I cue in an intelligently reviewed algorithm. This can result in a departure from the prediction 0, +, or -

Every thing we do in life results in a skewed time stream down the line. This is not a critical issue for change. It is cured by mental discipline, .but I am the type of person who just has to "spill the beans" when i see odd changes in a metric that shows up every day.

Don't shatter your time sense hourglaass

Altered futures are rife in novels and the entertainment media. Second alternative and do over themes are in many a story By this post I test a time paradox as we all do every day of our lives.

How many times have we made business decisions that stop our livelihood cold? What about revenue that slips away bit by bit from a poorly managed business?.

Marketers are aware of this problem and the model has been used in a reversible way."drip feed" plans for customer conversion and marketing revenue are used to moderate the successes for all of us. The take on this post should be used constant vigilance to not let your business drain away.

Hi - although you shouldn't focus on your ranking, to the detriment of your website, as I am sure we have discussed before, there is perhaps an answer to this.

If you look at those who are ranked above you, they generally have similar figures when it comes to their helping and creating levels, leading to an overall activity level of less than 100.

You are the exception to this, with a lower "helper" figure, as compared to your "creator" figure, giving you an overall activity level of 1.5k.

In other words, those who are rising above you and pushing you further down, are both helping and creating. If your only activity in the community is writing a blog post every day, and you are not a "helper", then it stands to reason your rank would drop.

Just my considered opinion, as always.

I've been watching my WA Rank slowly drip away, but at this point, it is not a big concern of mine as I am working to keep up on so many things right now. I don't understand algorithms and all that. But it is not a big concern for me right now. I am doing what I need to do which is work on my business ideas. :)

Best wishes,
Karin :)

It is a strange "algorithm". I don't post all that often...most of the time responding to questions or even other's posts. My ranking bounces up and down.

I don't really pay too close attention to it as far as trying to make it move...it'll do that on its own without me trying to move it.

I do take notice of it to try to figure out what is it I did that caused it to move...sometimes it moves lower when I do not respond as often. I just don't get it myself..

I wish you well, Mike!

Bob I realize at my age I'm lucky to be able to turn my computer on and get to the right place, but as far as those "algorithm" things go if I can't order it off Amazon then I am in trouble!

I'm sure somebody has written a book "Dummies for Algorithm's"
but I don't have one. lol
So I'm just going to keep doing what I do and see you at the end!
Have a GREAT DAY!

3 weeks ago today I was sitting at 204 in Rank. Since that day it has been going backward. Today it is at 398.
As most of you know, that have seen me, I have been here every day.
It is more important to me to get Visitors to my site, help others and earn money, and my content writing has been suffering because of the health issues I have been having.
So until those issues are resolved, I guess it will continue to drop. :)

Are you posting at least once daily?

I see ranking as a kind of encouragement on the road we travel to try to find success. If we rank in the 200 or above category, it shows a level of commitment sufficient to get us there. I think in that way rank can be helpful, but as it is in a sense a false measure, I agree that it can be something that distracts us from the real goal. We move forward, nonetheless.

I don't see the benefit of ranking on WA. How does it relate to your online business, or is it just for bragging rights?

As far as I know (and can tell), it doesn't.

The only way it would benefit your business would be if you were promoting WA. People may be more inclined to sign up, in the hope of personal coaching, if you tell them you are in the top 50 out of 1.4 million members!

Thanks, Diane. That's an excellent point. I was around 4000 but as soon as I begin concentrating on my writing, my ranking crashed to over 9000.

I'm not even sure exactly how to get a better ranking. Is it done by welcoming people to WA? Maybe there are several ways to do it. I don't really know.

Helping folks in the Live Chat, leaving feedback, leaving comments , and I'm sure there are other ways that I can't remember off the top of my head, but those are a few.

Hope those are helpful & useful.

Yes, thanks. That does help. I'm all for helping people and do when they have questions I can answer, but I don't spend hours on it.

LOL So, it isn't just my rank that has been slowly decreasing each day? In a weird way, that is a little bit reassuring.

Granted, I have been so busy with other things that I have not written a WA post in a while. Nor am I spending as much time on the site as I would like to. With the longer days and nicer weather, there is more to do and online work gets less priority.

Yet, I have had to fight the "urge" to want to do things that would hopefully stop this downward decent. I tell myself that I ABSOLUTELY must focus on what brings money in not my WA rank.

I was not aware they changed the algorithm. I assumed that we must have a bunch of new people that are focusing on doing the things that will improve their rank.

p.s. I just noticed that you said that your are posting every day and your rank is still going down. Interesting. I wonder if people are getting rewarded more for the amount of time they spend in chat & answering questions? Focus on what counts. For me hit has to be building a profitable website because I am my sole source of income. No retirement or husband or inheritance. lol

I believe it was Mark Twain that said, " Change for the sake of chenge, is folly". The new Al Gore "ithm" makes about as much sense as the former vice president. Algorithm is one of my least favorite words. Al did invent the internet, right?

LOL How funny! Well, I am off to write some quality content to please Google's algorithms... And people of course.

For me, I don't worry so much about ranking as I do about getting stuff done. I'm more concerned with my site and getting it to start "working" for me.

Ranking does make you consider the work you put in, I have been away and just returned to find I am 3000 down on the rank I was when I left, must put in more effort it says LOUD AND CLEAR.

I've played with this baby for fun. I was down to 7.500 3 months ago. I put in one post about WA and watched a change up to 4,000

I will indeed use this as a 'closed' study, the results of which will probably not surprise me. I love the dripping tap, if I had the processor power, it would be satisfying to freeze frame and enlarge the 'drip' to see the reflection.

Hmm. I'm 4 weeks new, sitting at 204. Maybe tomorrow. You know what? For me...ranking up or down, although is a goal, is not nearly as important as feeling up no matter what.

Thanks Mike.
I have noticed the same thing. I don't know how the system works, so can’t comment on how to solve it. I just keep blogging and watch the numbers go up and down, yet don't know why?
Appreciate your thoughts.

Good work, Mike. I'm living proof that outside influences can have marked change in our community activities, our business activities and, ultimately, our ranking.

They are all tied together in a rather interesting way!!

All the best, my friend.

I spent over 40 hours mon-wed in chat, reading blogs, commenting, etc....Rank went down 7 spots. Not studying it. My first site is making money and 3 more up before end of the month. Rank goes down, back account goes up. I can live with that.
