Ocean gyres

Waste dumped at sea is not a typical garbage dump. No other way to give the planet a makeover of blight is best exhibited. We've come a long way from the romantic "message in a bottle" days of the last 100 years. It is in this fashion that the power and reach of the world ocean currents was first observed.

These gyres occur worldwide. It should come as no surprise that most of them are in the North Atlantic and the North Pacific. The Atlantic has been the traditional dumping ground over the past two centuries There is a Texas sized stretch of refuse in the North Atlantic. This area has been the dumping ground for the much vaunted Industrial revolution

As the 21st century unfolds the most significant gyres are now in the Pacific. This is the largest body of contiguous ocean on the planet. The feeder currents wash against every major maritime country on the planet. Some big ones are Russia, Canada, the United States, Japan, Korea and China.

The changes in the economics of Vietnam and countries such as Mexico and Peru are also changing and adding to the outflow. Now with China constructing new dredged lands in the Southwest Pacific, currents are being influenced as well as temperatures and the size of gyres. The increase in ocean going traffic is also affecting the size of the gyres on a spot basis everywhere.

Some fringe areas, particularly in the South Atlantic, South Pacific to include New Zealand and Australia are relatively clear. However, intrusion of spoilage is everywhere.

Much of the intrusion can be targeted at plastic. A prior article mentioned the evolution of plastic eating microbes which helps that problem. The images show the effect of adverse fishing practices and their side effects as in the size of nets and their entanglement. A good image is given of the effects on the food chain from the smallest phytoplankton through the fish up to human involvement. Invasive species also play a part in this degradation.

The prepper niche deals with awareness of these conditions and is a great one to follow for more information.

Thanks Mike...
Hopefully we can wake up and do something to reverse this dangerous situation. How much longer can we take our Mother Earth for granted?

KyleAnn

Big thank you for writing about this tragedy.

Great article Mike. Gyres, something I haven't seen mentioned in a while.
We are bringing about the future Extinction of all life on earth.

Plastics come from Petroleum. The Petro-chemical companies that are only in it for PROFIT. But that is what John D Rockefeller was all about, PROFIT.

Sad that more people are not aware of Nikola Tesla and Free Energy. And also ALL of the Plastic and Fuel products that could be produced with Renewable and Biodegradable resources such as Hemp.

Sonny

Good afternoon Sonny,

I have used a Tesla video, 3,6,9 for one of my posts on Hertz, and Rockefeller.

Great post!
The past century has really spoiled the earth
for the next centuries. I hope the earth will
forgive us and let us repair what we can still
fix.

Have a great day!
Ingrid

Thank you, Ingrid, and for beautifying the planet!

Great stuff Michael. You're a man after my own heart! Yours aye.

Good Morning Mike,

For both my websites I write about this and related issues. Man-made disasters with far reaching side effects. Our planet is beautiful but we do not live in a beautiful world and that is our own fault.

Greetings from the south of Spain,Taetske

My pleasure but not at the subject matter, Bob.
