This essential spline map indicates the longest remaining unflooded area on the planet

This area lies astride the last great developed community on the planet. The height elevations of Turkestan (my name for it) have borne the weight of trader horses for centuries. Genghis Kahn, Tamerlane and Marco Polo have followed and developed this route. The route stretches east from Turkey to Turkmenistan, further east to East Turkestan (Sinkiang province in China) and ending up on the Amur River in Russia. This area lies on the doorstep of Mongolia. Where the Manchu Dynasty held sway!

Tectonic subsidence appears to have created a great inland sea in the mountainous heartland of Tibet. There are countless hydrographic inroads that have occurred in Asia. The Indus River basin is now a gulf. Likewise, the Persian Gulf has now enlarged to an Arabian Gulf.

The Caspian Sea was losing some area and drying out. The Aral Sea had completely disappeared due to Soviet agricultural mismanagement in the later 20th century. Now the tide is literally reversed. The enlarged Arabian Gulf has claimed Israel for the waves. A great concern in the western world can be where to resettle Israel now?

The Gulf of Bengal has completely swallowed the nation of Bangladesh. This has actually happened in history. In the 1990s extensive flooding occurred in the Brahmaputra and Ganges river basins. The entire nation was a vast flood plain.

It appears that the sun has set on the land of the rising sun. The Tokyo Fish Market is now one with the native fishing habitat! In fact the entire island is no more. Other islands fare no better, the mighty Philippines are gone. Taiwan and adjacent mainland China have been swallowed by the waves. The Yellow and Yangtse Kiang rivers are seabed channels.

Russia has fared a little better. The European areas near Moscow are little more than island remnants The nation begins in earnest in Western Siberian mountains and continues over the Bering Strait into North America as far as the Pacific Northwest.

The land of this new and largest continent on Earth is vast and represents the largest remnant of developed land available to all of us. Commerce will, of necessity follow!
