Time for a dissertation on that great elixir that fuels so many of us -COFFEE. Looking at these stats, it would appear that 90% of the physical desktops of WA have a cup of coffee residing thereon.

I am not an avid coffee drinker but have strayed to a cup or two occasionally. There have been substitutes since the days when caffeine got a bad name. One is Postum. I think though that it has lost its favor, flavor and savor!.

There are many reduced caffeine varieties out there with a marginal value as pointed out in the informational. I have touched on hot dark chocolate my favorite alternative.

Lately, it appears consumer preference is reaching out to stronger drinks for a greater kick. Beverages like Jolt have hit the stores and loaded Mountain Dew is in quite the vogue.

Imagery is used extensively in the marketing of energy drinks. These promise a stronger kick. Many of the cans and bottles feature a metal embossed fender design designed to carry a masculine working image of toughness.

Many things here were of educational value to me.

  • The fact that a lethal dosage can and has been measured
  • The fact that light roast has more caffeine than a dark roast. I would expect it to be the other way around
  • The 15 minute napping brain reboot. This, supported by verifiable research, is the best news about that cup of java.

We know that part of WA's Las Vegas swag consists of a cup for brew with the WA logo prominently imprinted thereon. WA is not alone in providing accessories for this elixir. My writer's group dispensed with them this last year as well. It appears that stimulating drinks like coffee have worked their way into an office worker and writers environment..Its small wonder that Starbucks has been the font of wisdom and is associated with bookstores.

There is little doubt that WA owes a lot of its "creativity" to the stimulating effect of caffeine. So as you go don't forget your Joe!

Coffee is a good thing. My doc just said a cup a day is good for my heart. I don't even drink a cup a day any more, as I gave it up when I quit sleeping a couple years back. Now I'm back to a more reasonable sleep pattern and have an occasional coffee. Amazing how popular it is with most people.

I miss coffee. It started messing with me a year or two ago and I had to give it up. I did love my coffee though. I replaced it with water. That keeps you awake too with the increased frequency of trips to the bathroom. ;-)

Yes, morning starts with coffee and WA.

Interesting info on Coffee Mike
I stick to decaf. Years ago I suffered caffeine poisoning , so I try to limit how much I have now.
Those cans of drink with caffeine in them are a real worry. How easy would it be for a child to grab one out of the fridge and drink it. Jim

Great job as I say we are what we consumed
I just wish I can leave coffee alone
I stop once and start back 5 years and all am trying to stop again
But soon that too will be gone with the wind thanks for sharing

Janet

I wish I liked coffee but I never have. But strong black tea gives me a kick.

On advertised variety mixes coffee and tea!

ugh, any coffee flavor is not for me. My theory is that growing up and washing the adults' coffeepot grossed me out.

Wow! Now I know why I need 2 cups to start the day!
Profound.
Great post.
Joe

You're well-named my friend!

Lot to live up to I guess.
Thanks
Joe

Good evening my friend, I am old enough to remember when you could buy a cup of coffee for a dime, yes indeed. However I wanted to mention there is new scientific evidence that caffeine is good for you that is coffee is good for you, good for the mind and good for the body. Thank you for your blog, and may you have a most wonderful night.

Great news!
