Meeaningless employer statements part 3

The saga of employer employee relationships continues today Here are some more:

8. Perception is reality (That's what you think!) Even though I may be sure of my perception .Others may not see it that way!

Other people may see a reality different from you. Work to change your version Perceptions are fleeting. Reality changes a lot less frequently!

9. Feel free to give me feedback. You see this constantly at websites signs and meetings! If you really want feed back you must actively solicit it!. Be active and not wait for it to roll in. Grab it. Take responsibility for getting it!

10. You need to square the circle! This is meaningless and shows at best the employer is a round peg in a square hole.

One employer used this constantly and the employees just nodded!

11.Let's do it now and apologize later! This statement doesn't make you a bold daring risk taker. It makes you someone who takes shortcuts.

If the idea is good employees will support it. if they don't the problem is with you! Describe what you want to do nd prove it makes sense. Then get people behind you!

This series will conclude tomorrow. I've already matched up several of these to people I have worked with. Keep on with your rocking business ideas and genuinely support each other!

That was something good to an employee to know.

Mike - Do it and apologize later I hear quite frequently. Lots of people taking short cuts out there.

My morning amusement, Michael thanks :))

Most welcome Carol!

Great overview. Thanks. Jay

ONE BOSS + ME BOSS = HAPPINESS

Hi! Michael,
Thank you for another humorous meaningful posting that I love it. Much what you stated well echoed with what I have seen over time. If I may, I like to add that political correctness (sweet talk and sympathy) and distorted commercialism have ruined many people's life. But the first step for all possible improvement is to realize, understand, and accept the available truth and fact of life. Otherwise, there would ne no hope to improve.

Oh! Off and on, I will poke you to look into my baby site, www.ebettercare.com so to advise what and how I should do to make it able to function as it is supposed to be.

Good night!

James

These may be my favorites so far Mike.

#8- Perceptions-convert to opinions and like a#$holes...everyone has one. Teehee

#9-Lots of us ask for feedback but can't take it unless it's what we want to hear (really goes into #8 category) Ha..

#10-Reminds me of a friend of mine who worked as a writer for a newspaper...she is a total PIA really for everyone...she was fired and they simply told her "You're not a good fit"..haha!

#11-Reminds me of the old joke about husbands misbehaving..."It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission" Hahaha! Not!

I've worked for or with others with these traits and have likely been guilty of making some of these statements as an employer myself (at least early on when starting out as an employer), I like to think I have learned how important good employees are since my early days.

Love you but when you gonna sign me on for free to edit your typos? ;-)

"fitment" is the new conformity Cindy!

I can think of some for whom the disparity between perception and reality really counts!

- Who was that man Herb?
- I don't know, but I like the cut of his jib. He's really going places!

...The reality may be that despite the swagger, the subject is pretty ordinary. But the idea of his being a real-go-getter will drop him several places ahead of much more capable colleagues.

We're social creatures. Even in workplaces where people work ardently to avoid biased judgements, they can be affected by superficial social interactions and the idea of a person, rather than the person themselves.

We even tag ad label our posts Ivy!
