How to get a better read Taking notes
I find it difficult to adjust to the on line note taking methods many times. There seems to be an app for everything
I used to love to use a yellow and sometimes a green marker to underline important information in textbooks and workbooks.
Sometimes I would just draw faint yellow lines through the text copy of areas not really important just to show to myself that I read through it
it's easier to highlight and underline than use virtual methods of note keeping. and writing in a book helps me better retain information better. Evernote has a tough time with me
When I’m done reading, I categorize and store books by topic and influence I experience. That's my "library"It's important that we carefully annotate and copy our notes as we develop our sites and their precious contentHow are you keeping notes, the old fashioned way or with an app?
Go forth and keep up your archiving victories everyone!

I am with you Michael, good old pen and paper. By the time I have opened my wordpad or whichever program is used, I have either forgotten what I want to write or lost my place in the document. I always have a notebook open on my desk. That's just my way. I guess it shows my age :-)
We are all getting spoiled by the convenience of the digital world, even me- copy and paste, and save(and forget where...lol)
But I still read books (printed books ) whenever I can...:))
I'm really good at taking notes but bad about organizing them. Time to make some changes.
Sometimes I take notes on my iPhone, other times it's on my Microsoft Word and Google Docs on my Mac laptop.
That's how I used to do it as well but gradually I've floated over to the Google system. Saves me a lot of time to just copy & paste content onto a doc. I can easily save it and go back to re-read when the need arises.
I have several note books, 1) notes from training program video 2) notes from special videos 3) notebook for writing out my posts and pages for assignments, non assignment posts are written in this note book but then torn out until ready to use. 4) the gold star list for those ideas that I consider pertinent to a good website . Now all I need is another 12 hours a day to do it all . But at least I am pretty much organised stawhu ( Scott)
Ohh, when you can copy and paste for future reference that's good
But I also use a paper notebook for instant ideas or thoughts

Sometimes, just sometimes the older methods are better. Can you still buy highlighters?
David
Oh yes. You'll find them in any drug store. Of course they're used for marking lunches,et.al!
