I was surprised last night. There are so many things to be discovered in the on line world, you really cant catch them all.

Carson surprised me with a reminder that picking up images from any server out there puts WA servers at risk. I've had a great number of WA posts but this was never pointed out to me before until he kindly did last night.

This may be one of the reason that WA has established Site Content with its large fields of images. It makes sense to have a large repository of images that have been vetted not only for copyright but also security!

WA is not immune from image altering and spamming. One has to be sure of absolute safety and integrity of any image before posting it.

The information in the knowledge base is sparse on this important topic. Paul Boudreau's post of May 2, 2017, elaborates further

I didn't know that, but it makes sense. Once I started to use SIte Content for posting here at Wealthy Affiliate, I never even thought to look elsewhere for images, it kind of defeats the whole purpose of having access to SC in the first place.

Hi
I am a little confused.I wasn't aware of this and I can't find the images on site content. Also I can't find the post by Paul Boudreau.

Also during the training Kyle gives a list of where to get free images from and these are outside WA. Are we not allowed to use those now?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best Wishes
Hazel

Unless you created the images yourself, I'd stick to the ones that are here.

Thanks but where are the images on this site please?

In the SiteContent tool.

Here it is hazel

Great - found it now!

Thank you
Hazel

Kyle is making reference to images for your site. In terms of posting on the Wealthy Affiliate platform, it's best to use Site Content.

In case you're looking for more images, Loes gives extensive training on where you can get free images:

FYI, the reason that the put images in SiteContent is that they are discouraging people from using the other free sites. MKearns blogged about that this week, saying that Carson said that it puts WA at risk.

Oh... I guess I misunderstood what I read.

So, does that apply even to Pixabay? I know that was one site that was mentioned often.

Wait a minute, now I think I'mg getting confused...

You're referring only to WA posts, correct or is this referring also to our personal sites as well?

Also, personal sites as I understand it - they're hosted on WA servers, and trust me, the lawyers will go where the money is, not the affiliate who isn't making a dime... but the webhost that is allowing unlicensed images. LOL - when I commented on your comment, I didn't realize we were on Mike's post.

Wow! There really are a lot of moving parts behind the scenes, more than I had realized. Well, fortunately, even for my site, I've been relying on images from Site Content or ones that I have taken. But there are those earlier posts before SC, so I'll take some time to check those images.

Thanks for the clarity, and I'm sure Papa doesn't mind our comments.

Thanks for these comments @VeronicasLuv and @onmyownterms as this has helped me to clarify the issue and probably helped others too.

Best Wishes
Hazel

Thank you for this Michael, but it is rather limiting isn't it?

Thank you for sharing!

Great post I have a list of where to get free images for websites and they are great. So if you if you need it let me know.

Thank you Mary. Send it to me please!

Great post. I have always used siteContent. I have not found anything there that was not somewhere else and besides I don't have to search for it.

Thank you for sharing. Kyle has recommended some sites which provide optimized images. What about them?

To be investigated.

Thanks for sharing this information, but I also found SC image library to be limited.
But I understand why Carson is worried, one day I wanted to read one blog from one of the WA member and my antivirus told me there was a risk if I open that blog.
It's good to know this can happens here at WA

Unfortunately, I've found the SC image library to be limited and disappointing. I always try it first and rarely find what I'm looking to find.

WA has gotten ahead of itself. I often have to brainstorm alternate categories as there is nothing available in certain images. I couldn't find s an image of anyone tripping and falling for instance!

Right, right? and the saying goes. The library is just not extensive enough by any definition. Carson, take note!

I had not thought of this way but I am glad you shared this with us. I try not to do this by any means. But I know I have and I am working on fixing this.
