Google Fails
Failure is an essential part of life and effort.
Thomas Edison is reputed to have 999 failures for 1 electric light bulb.
Here is a Google record in part and that is only updated to 2010. Based on customer complaints and alternative demand the surface hasn't even been scratched for Google!
In something as dynamic as the internet one can expect the failure and % success pass rate to go off the charts compared to common electricity!
How are you progressing with your efforts in WA? Have you;

- determined success parameters
- worked out a formula for success
- actually attained successsful workarounds

Google knows how to ‘fail fast’ and also trawls all the available market data to sniff out the next big innovation. If your startup or technology shows indicators (as they define them) of being a fabulous disruption, you will be purchased and developed.
Granted, the individual player doesn’t have the mega-resources of Google to do the same, but what are we all doing to continuously scour the landscape for the new thing or idea that might aid our efforts, of for signs that it’s time to ‘fail quickly’? What are our criteria that we’ve spotted it?
It is interesting to discover that Google doesn't do it all. There is still room for others. Thank you for the rundown.

Yes indeed in all that you listed, but they still excel in SEARCH ENGINE, and highlighted this above all else.

Interesting, thank you Michael. So it boils down to focusing and doing what we are good at - trying to have a foothold on many different niches, even "sort of" related, just because others are making a killing in that niche, is not necessarily the best business decision FOR US.
Your 4 bullet points also gave some food for thought - although it should actually be acted upon, not only be thought upon.
