Floating island concept
The Netherlands (formerly Holland) Is taking the lead in developing a new concept to meet the challenge of rising sea levels anticipated in the future. Already renowned for reclaiming land from the sea in sections called polders this enterprising country is developing a new concept building over the sea!
More frequently countries are looking to establish themselves on the water. The Chinese are doing it to cement (literally) their presence in the South China Sea. tons of dredged sediment and fill have been dumped to create several manmade islands and it is creating consternation to the traditional political territorial model.
Prototypes of floating islands are now being developed by the Dutch. Modularized together in triangular segments they herald the way to further development.. The next evolution already under construction consists of those segments being anchored by steel beams in the ocean floor and bridged by cement.
On these platforms whole cities can be constructed complete with parks and lagoons. It is a science fiction concept come to life! They can also be used with rectangular sections to develop rows of farmland. One of those is planned to go up in Rotterdam later this year!
The United States is getting on board this concept as well. A full concept and construction is being planned of the coast of Tahiti. This may be planned due to establishing our traditional presence in the Pacific but the urbanization and benefit to islanders and allies is also of note.
Likewise we need concept development for the lifeblood or our important website copy and enterprise. The research and innovation aspects are of paramount importance if we are to grow for our global community!

The Global warming committee wishes they would have thought of this concept first before they started predicting Iceland and Greenland melting, which would raise the ocean waters about 20 feet. This would put Manhattan, NY underwater, not to mention all the other coastal cities around the world.
Just think. It is never too late to learn how to swim. Thank you for sharing.
