Driverless trains coming down the line

Therehave been news flashes about driverless cars. Of course drone technology hasbeen in the skies for the last 10years. Now that planes and automobiles areaccounted for, can trains be automated to the driverless mode also?

Theanswer is a definite yes. France is pioneering the effort. A prototype 200mphhigh speed train for goods only will be tested in 2019 and is expected to runby 2023. The route will be from Paris to Southeast France.

Inthe 2020’s similar plans loom for Washington Dc to New York City in the USwhich could cut the commute to as little as 30 minutes. Hubs around theCalifornia coastal cities and Chicago are also being considered.

Thereis concern about job loss. That won’t happen in the short run as there are toomany variables that can block the tracks due to intrusive vehicles and otherobjects. However in the long run as the corridor environments are hardened it issomething to watch for.

Thesechanges impact our investment concerns further in the ever changingtransportation industry!

Hi Mike, the amazing changes in technology. Irv.

good new technology good post thank you for sharing

Having grown up with no electricity, telephone or running water, and still relying mostly on human and horse power I have been through a lot of changes, but nothing as quickly as it is happening now.

I always remember the gut wrenching excitement of coming over the top on a ferris wheel at a small town yearly fair. I am still on the ferris wheel but it is bigger and one takes a ride at least once a week, if not every day.

Sure keeps one on their toes figuring out how to protect assets and put decent food on the table. Glad I am an avid learner and enjoying it all.

I can't say for sure if this technology is on or off 'Track',for failure or success.

We are talking future science. I feel safer with a real human at the helm.

My dad told me the world would be much different from his world. That was over 50 years ago. I'd say so!

I often wonder what it will be like for the next generation after us? Spaceships, flying saucers! Umm? I wonder?

All joking aside, but not really joking at all, I hope the next generation figures out how to better recycle more recyables.

Thanks for the update Mike.

Becky

Mike, I love this topic of drive less trains. As long as they are safe, and there are fail safes in place.

BTW, sorry to say you are still having that word "conjoining" issue with the site tool. There were 15 conjoined word sets in this article. Did you find out what the issue is?

I'm composing it in word and pasting it in the posting box. It must be a format miscuing in the translation!

Mike I use an AP called UX write to compose and then copy and paste. My compositions then save to Dropbox. You may like that tool.

Sounds like a good solution. I will try it out.

Good idea, sorry you have to go through the extra step!

Good. They need to stop slamming them around the yard 40m from my front door and wrecking my hard disks.

Sci-fi stuff. Incredible

Driverless! Is it remotely controlled?

Yes like aircraft drones. But for awhile emergency personnel will be available!

I sure hope so, lol!

Becky :)
