almost frustration

In the image above it takes one little break in the circuitry to down an entire CPU.

Have you ever gone through the process of attempting to complete a transaction? Many of us have only to be frustrated at the last when it looks like a desired objective or goal is in reach.

A classic example of this effect is attempting to make a withdrawal transaction at an automatic teller machine. The sign outside the store says ATM available and looks inviting. You begin the transaction and put in the required information. You are even told what denominations you desire.

You can flip a coin whether you can complete the transaction successfully. The notice comes up either

- the transaction cannot be completed at this time.

- a surprise out-of-order notification

- a surprise fee notification The choice is given to agree to the fee or not and then of course the transaction is canceled . A ridiculous waste of time. I

- if the fee is accepted you find it is usually $3.99 which is the maximum that can be charged by the bank

It's not just in financial transactions that this occurs. It is present in legitimate marketing transactions as well. A classic action is the bait and switch operation in which a proposed benefit or product is dangled in front of the reader only to be removed and substituted by something with a lot of glitz but not as good as the original.

One of the worst instances of this frustration is inherent in misleading offers on the internet h like the ATM you are.required to perform a series of operations or provide a good amount of data to seek something of value.

At some point usually when you have completed the input you are redirected to another site which indicates the item is no longer available. But...the redirection shows an option B which is what the web writer had in mind all along.

Another action is the so called "brief survey" which goes on and on. This endless survey causes you to quit in frustration and stop. But they have your e-mail address as lead data which can provide all kinds of additional scamming as a reward for your diligence. If you do complete the survey, you find the rewards are in points or "credit" for other items.

Remember everything rests on that initial decision point before you take the first step. Use your own bank's ATM and use caution on the internet always!

I once took on that surveys and I am so hopeful I can earn but survey after survey forms were answered nothing happened.

Many 'surveys" are scams, Jimmy!

At times it makes you think you have done some procedure wrong when in fact it is the software.
Jerry

... what a waste of time and talent! ... someone ordered that software to be developed -- what kinda mind works like that?!

... thanks for informing us about it -- now what's to be done?

... even with 'legislation' in place as a deterrent (sometimes) -- it's better with 'preventive medicine' and have it stopped at the get-go! ...

" caveat emptor " == buyer beware -- unfortunately, this is very much still in effect when it comes to any 'marketplace' ... where's the consumer protection in any of this? .... clearly, zerio ...

Don't like these tactics. And they are everywhere...

Thanks for sharing, Mike.

Good one Mike !
It's the opposite of the old Sears department store .

If they didn't have the product you wanted they would upgrade you to a more expensive product .

It happened to a friend of mine , he ordered some carpet for his camper van but they were out of stock.
So instead they sent him this beautiful expensive carpet and apologized for not having the original carpet but he was not disappointed , he was elated and they had his future business.
Why cant more people or companys be like that ?

Hi. Boy, you got that right! I hate to say this, but this is a new development in Internet use - I mean, it's getting worse. The real problem is that it's not scammers you have to watch out for now, it's "legitimate" companies. This is a problem that needs to be addressed by someone. The scamming by so-called legit firms online is very unhealthy trend. Good advice, thanks for posting!

Mike, tks!

Thank you for sharing, Mike.

You got that right. That feature image brings back memories. I spent the better part of 3+ years learning how to build those boards because in the late 70's hardware was "where the money is at". Then overnight somebody invented this new thing called "software". Needless to say I had a degree in Computer Engineering that wasn't worth the paper it was printed.
