Millions of pictures are uploaded to the internet every minute. All objects and everyone is a subject for the camera. Photography has been a medium for many an iconic moment. Many events in the last 120 years have been immortalized by it.
Besides creating a time capsule for past landscapes and lifestyles fine photography has become a medium for fine art. Touched up with paint and careful placement a masterpiece can be created.
In the early 1800s near Paris, inventor Nicehore Niepce produced the first photograph using a camera obscura, an ancient optical device. Light from a view of his country estate was used. It passed through a small hole inside a dark wooden box in the course of a day. A coated pewter plate inside the camera darkened in a pattern that matched the view. The plates "sun drawing" was then washed in a mixture containing lavender oil and the image was revealed.
Recognizing the importance of his discoveries, Niepce formed a partnership with artist Louis Daguerre. The process was improved using a more efficient silver coated copperplate.
The Daguerreotype immediately grew in popularity. By the beginning of the 20th. century improvements like photosensitive paper, flexible roll film and quicker exposure times made photography a commercially viable option for even the most amateur artist. By 1975 the first digital camera was built.
As we work with our visuals in Google images and Pinterest, it is worth it to consider the awesome development that is behind their applications.

Photography is wonderful...it captures a moment, an emotion...which might never happen again.
A very good post never to forget crediting our ancestors whose presence had made our existence a reality.
