Too Busy to Help?
So, I was so busy working on my website, I forgot about my other obligations, such as writing blogs here and getting in touch with members. Somehow, I couldn't get around to it; it didn't seem important now. After all, I was involved in my own really important stuff!
So after a few days of inactivity, because I'd hit a wall with my site, when I didn't do much of anything except complain and cry about how I was stuck and couldn't go on, despite having actual people coming to my site (something that should have made me leap with joy), I realized (smart!) that I wasn't really involved in anything. I was crying into my beer and worrying.
Jeez! So I figure, what the heck, I'll do my WA thing, connecting with members, welcoming newbies, reading members' blogs, etc. At first it was a chore, and then I realized - hey! I'm helping people. That made me feel so much better, and my whole attitude changed. People I hadn't exchanged messages with for months, were returning mine and saying nice things. Great! That's the whole thing in a nutshell! That's what I'm here for. Not just for myself, but for everyone else as well.
That's one way to get out of a depression. Thanks to everyone at Wealthy Affiliate!

Did you curse and swear and possibly hit your head against the wall, first? It takes me a little while to choose an alternate path when I've already decided on one. I'm learning to be more adaptable and resourceful now. Thanks for commenting, Elaine.
No, I am learning to go with the flow. Panicked a for a second then decided oh well, I will answer emails and read posts.

I agree with you Mike. By helping others, the focus is directed elsewhere, which helps in the time of depression.
When you see the responses and/or results from helping others it does has a positive effect on you.
I was in that position a while ago. I was working hard on my site and didn't seem to be getting anywhere so I started to refocus my attention here and in no time, I was back working on my site making progress.
This community gives off a lot of positivity and encouragement that it's hard to be in a state of 'I don't know what to do next on my site' or be depressed for a long while.
Wishing you success!
