Resistance Is Futile

The other day I realized that I as doing something wrong, because many times when I sat down at my computer to bone up on some technical stuff, I would encounter resistance. Now, there's a great book out there that I have, and since I can't mention the title or the author, I'll just say what it's about and how it has affected me.

It's about resistance. When you start in something very important to you, whether it's a business, or a work of art, or a website, it's certain that you will encounter resistance, that's like a wall you can't get past. I'm not saying everyone has this problem. I did, because I had a lot to learn about myself and about life, and how things worked, so I analyzed what was going on and I realized that it was true. Resistance comes in many forms. Your family - if they're supportive, great! But when they're not - and that happens more than we'd like to imagine - when they nay say your project, "Oh, you'll never do it, it's too much work, how are you going to manage, blah-blah-blah?"

It's hard to get past that stuff when it's right in your face, and if you are a person who isn't well grounded (like myself), it can be very painful and it can lead you astray. If you don't have faith in yourself and the people around you are no better, then you need to get out of that negative space - but I know it isn't easy. And you, yourself, what goes on in your mind as you prepare for some big event, doesn't help. It's called "ruminating," and the best cure for that is mediating.

I had to find my own way. My parents, unfortunately, were naysayers and didn't believe in me at all. I got no support, no encouragement, and all the rest of it that some lucky people take for granted.

I learned the hard way. Resistance only impedes if you try to force your way through. Don't waste time trying to convince those people who don't believe in you to change their minds. They probably won't, until you show success. And then you can happily thumb your nose at them!

In my particular case, I found that I was forcing myself to learn the technical stuff when all I wanted to do, first, was create content. I'm creative and so I decided I would do my writing first, and when my mind was less "on fire," I'd manage the ins and outs of running a website.

Great point, thanks for the useful reminder!

Thanks for your comment.

Way to go stand strong. I hope this method of writing content then working on the ins and outs has been successful for you

Thanks. It will be. I'm not a tech person, so I have trouble getting through it. I just get stuck! Ha!

I am not either and it does make it hard sometimes. Especially when they start using these big fancy words lol.

Right. I'm just trying to figure out whether I've submitted my sitemap to Google, or not, because I have the links in SEO, but when I go to Search Console & look up crawling, it says "no sitemap." So, go figure.

did you finish putting the code back into your dashboard?

You know what? I honestly don't know what the **** I did. All I know is I can access the sitemap thru SEO, and there I see 8 links, which by the way, before that there were more, so again, I don't quite know what's going on. How does one actually submit one's sitemap? How do you know when it's done?

Here is one that explains it pretty well. Give this a try if not I will help you find kyles

Sorry that is not the one I copied hold on a sec

Here is Kyle's version sorry about that.

That should help if not holler at me.

Thanks, sorry about the late thank you, I didn't see it before. I'll check that out.

You are welcome and it is okay.

Good to see that you shook those naysayers away and have continued your work on your website. You know that we are always here for you. Resistance can fall on many people if we let it.
Glad to hear you have dealt with it and are back. Keep up the great work here and you can show your family you can make something of yourself.

Tried and true

Elaine

Thanks, Elaine. "Tried & True," as always.

Hi, Mike.

Thanks for sharing your heart. I always say that we must quickly deal with negativity and distractions. They take our focus away and, like in your case, sometimes alter our focus.

All of us was blessed with unique talents. We must explore and build on those talents that we are supposed to be good with.

All the best for your future plans.

Hennie

Thanks, I appreciate that.
