I'm Falling Like A Rock

So now my ranking at Wealthy Affiliate is way down...way, way down. I was at 200-something, now I'm down to almost 800. I don't know how to keep up! I've been engrossed in my site, looking for affiliates, having several nervous breakdowns, tearing my hair out by the roots. I JUST HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE TIME!!!!!!

I've figured out that there are only 24 hours in a day. That's what they tell me. Okay, some of that time I have to sleep. I don't like the idea, it stinks, I wish I didn't have to sleep.

Then again, I stay up too late trying to come down from the high of the day, so I go to sleep late and get up late, and then I curse myself for wasting time. So what's better than beating up on yourself? Oh yeah, I am my own worst enemy. But when you're in the midst of crazy creativity, how can you think about anything else?

What to do, what to do...

I don't know. Now I feel as if the rocks are actually falling on me! Argh!

Just take one day at a time, you need to do your things at home too. Work on your site and share whatever experience you may have, don't worry too much about your ranking, your most important job is to write that content for your site because that is where your visitors are going. I could not get into WA for a whole week, and my ranking went down considerably, but after you participate in the discussions and write a couple of posts on your WA blog, you should be back in no time. This membership site is a busy place but the most CRITICAL thing for you is to maintain your niche blog updated.

Yup, you're right. Thanks for the advice.

In my opinion, WA rank is the last thing on my list of important things to do. When you've got everything else done then go back and get your rank back up. you can get that back up in a couple weeks if that's your concentration.
For now just worry about your website and ranking!

Amen to that Fran!!

Thank you, Hi-Im-Fan. I am taking your advice.

Spending time on your site is way more important than ranking within WA - IMO
At least until you have things on auto-pilot at which point you may have more time to spend here

Thanks, Bald Eagle. Very encouraging!

Ok, sit down and breathe deep. Your WA ranking is not that big a deal. When you get more caught up, you can bring it back fairly quickly. Work on the important stuff - your step by step training, your blog posts. Stop tearing your hair out, you will lose it soon enough as you get older. Set yourself a plan - that includes sleep and work the plan each day. Take breaks occasionally so you can re-energize. WA and your site will still be here. - shirley

Thank you! So appreciate your input.

I know where you are, I struggle with balance as well. I like what ericcantu has to say, I think it makes the most sense. Know just to figure out how to put that into action. Oh and by the way I do the same thing, stay up way to late, can't get up in the morning, then beat myself up for starting so late each day. I keep telling myself I am going to get organized and fix this, now I just have to do it. Wishing you the best in finding a balance that works for you.

Thanks, nice to know other people have similar issues. Somehow, it makes you feel better. I feel part of the community when I connect. Great! Thanks again. It's encouraging.

The main thing you want to focus on is your website, first and foremost. Your rank is completely secondary, so as long as you're working on building quality content for your site, then your focus is where it's supposed to be. Rank is nothing to worry about :) Keep up the good work!

That makes me feel a lot better, but I see you're at 50, probably because you've been here awhile? But you're right. It's just that I get panicky when numbers start going in the wrong direction. I get panicky about checking my Google Analytics, and have a heart attack when I don't see what I had hoped to see! Crazy. I have to find a way to stop generating all this anxiety. Thanks for your comments.

The answer to that is to not check analytics, lol. Too many people get addicted to checking their progress in Google analytics and it's just so counterproductive. Instead of checking data, create data. Don't worry about analytics until you have around 50 or so posts and steady traffic. Then you can double down on what's working. Checking analytics everyday is like going to the gym and doing one rep and then rushing home to weigh yourself and feeling discouraged that you don't see progress.

Keep your head down and your focus on your goals :) You'll get there!

Awesome analogy - thanks Eric!

Thank you! All you guys are so helpful - and wise! Thanks.

I think a lot of us have been there. I am lucky in so much as I have retired from full-time work. I just have to plan my day as productively as possible.

Thanks. I too have only my website, so that's a great advantage. Because I tell you if I had to do this on top of a regular job - Wow! I take my hat off to whoever can do that.

Thank you for your feedback.

Know what you mean. Come to know that I am my worst enemy. I am backing up and looking at myself. It’s been awhile not working on my site but working outside job. I only get about four hours of sleep and then back at it again. So that leaves me twenty hours for work. If I’m not driving then I’m trying to work on site. But I’m still in the learning stage. If you need to talk let me know. Nice to have someone to talk with

Hi, Jesse. Sure, I'm following you. We'll keep in touch. Thanks for your input, and I guess it's hard because it's worth it. They say nothing is achieved without a lot of effort. Well, that's certainly true here, and there are days when, you know, I just feel like giving up. So I "give up" for a while, my mind goes blank and I do something else. Doesn't always work!

Priorities that’s the answer. I make a list a reasonable list for to do. And spend about an hour an half reading blogs answering people and then spend some me time before bed. Why because burnout happens to us all so slow down or go up in flames

Yeah, you're right. Burnout is an issue. I guess that was happening to me and I didn't even realize it. When you start getting that cold sweat of worry, that's when you know you've gone a little too far and it's time to rest.

Thanks for you feedback. Really appreciate it.

Well, this posting should help in getting you higher in your WA ranking by tomorrow.
I find a burst of activity over a week or so really helps with getting a better ranking.
Commenting (like I'm doing now), blogging (like I should be doing now), creating a short training (like I could be doing now), helping out with questions, etc... are activities that pay off. But, they do take up quite a bit of time!
Maintaining the high position is another question.

However, the most important thing is your business, your site.
Let's not forget why we joined WA in the first place!
Best,
Alenka

Thank you. I was feeling a bit on the verge of burnout trying to figure out how to raise my ranking, when I really was here to build a business. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy helping people as well, which makes this site a twofer.
But yes, the big thing is getting our sites up and running. Helping others is a great bonus and helpful bit of getting our own sites going and last is our ranking on WA.
Though my wording is probably really awful, I appreciate you helping me put things more into perspective. Ta heaps!!!!
Thank you so much!!!

You are welcome!

I learn a lot while being active on the platform, and do it whenever I have a moment to spare.

However, working on my site takes precedence over all other tasks.

On the other hand, if you have a bootcamp WA site, good rankings could help, so this is my main motivation to keep on working hard here and the bootcamp training + site.

Best of luck with your business!

Alenka

Right. Nice to hear back from people. Really makes me feel better. Thanks.

Thanks, Kay. All good. Nice support, I appreciate that.
