Heavy To The Rescue

Now why would I want to talk about heavy rescue guys? At first glance, there didn't seem to be much of a connection for me, as I'd never heard of it before. All I knew about it was I'd see those guys in tow trucks parked near exit ramps to expressways, kind of like predatory birds waiting to swoop down on their hapless victims, stranded drivers!

But years later, I started watching a reality show that featured heavy rescue guys on the job. I guess like a lot of guys, I like "boy-toys." I've spent a lot of my life on wheels of one kind or another - taxi driver, courier - and I had considered being a trucker, once. What drew me to the show in the first place were the vehicles these guys used. But I began to see more in it, as I looked deeper. These guys really enjoy their work. They like the money, sure, but they do this job because they love it. No matter the weather, they're out there in blizzards, floods, any kind of emergency. And the job can be dangerous, because they're always on the highways, at night, in poor visibility, etc.

Okay, so what's all this about? I was so impressed by these guys - their enthusiasm, their dedication, their concern for the safety of others, and the help they extended to drivers, especially the long-haul truckers - it changed my way of thinking. I knew then that I had made the right choice by being here at Wealthy Affiliate, because like those guys in heavy rescue, I was doing what I wanted with my life, and despite all the hardships, I wanted to stay and continue on this path because I believe in myself and in what I'm doing. I figured, if those guys can face life like that, I can do it too. Getting the job done, going home to the wife and kids, feeling good about what you've accomplished. These people are the backbone of our society, along with many others who give of their time to help others, emergency workers, fire fighters, cops, etc. That's when I realized I'd been barking up the wrong tree most of my life, tied to jobs I couldn't stand because I thought that was the thing to do.

That's all I wanted to say. I salute the heavy rescue guys and I credit them and the shows I've watched with helping me get a bearing on my life. Pretty incredible, isn't it?

Super interesting. We don't have those big rescue vehicles in Oz but then we don't have your long white out storms.
Like ambulance workers, they are incredible and we don't know if we will ever need them ourselves (hope not) but great to know of their support.
Nice to see they will inspire you to continue to do our WA work, we all need inspiration and you inspired us all too.
Cheers Jae ☼

Thanks for sharing about Oz - I keep thinking of The Wizard of Oz - and your thoughts.

Sure is incredible and never thought about those guys before!
They love their jobs and that makes all the difference.
We join you in saluting all these wonderful people.
