A New Milestone
I just put on a big spurt of energy and rapidly checked off all the tasks I hadn't done, till now. I had been agonizing over meeting the exact requirements of the lessons. I got really stuck on writing a review, because in my case writing a review ain't so simple. My niche - pulp fiction novels/fiction & movies in the noir genre - isn't exactly easy to affiliate, nor is it easy to think of ways to help people with the content I have. With a "useful" product or service such as vitamins or ways to cure a backache, it's a lot "simpler" than figuring out ways to help visitors interested in reading novels and watching a certain type of movie. I get that you can direct visitors to other sites, etc., and I've included a whole bunch of text links to Amazon in my blogs, but so far no takers, and my stint with Amazon is up in November.
I also get that I am not a visible presence in Social Media, and I'm working on that.
However, I'm pleased to have got here and that I have jumped over another hoop, though everything at the moment seems to hang in the balance.

I am proud of you for doing all your tasks. That is a milestone for you. And for your niche that is a tough one but take upon what Vickie suggested it might help you out. I am sorry that I couldn't be of more help for you.

Doing reviews about great, not so great and really bad in your genre may help and also regarding your niche, just a thought, what about having the right Television or computer to watch may help with monetizing

No people are watching DVD's about your niche and maybe you could suggest a couple of products they might like to buy for their viewing pleasure

Feeling good about our progress can actually propel ourselves forward. Putting in some hard yards will bring some good results.
I was just thinking there must be merchandise around pulp fiction, there will be products on Amazon.

Hm, well, thanks for the encouragement. I really could use that right now, as I've been sliding a bit in ranking here and not much has been happening on my website, though I've been busy researching everything I can lay my hands on. There's a heck of a lot of work! (lol).
Sounds great what you're saying about Facebook. I have some text links to Amazon, but no one's bought anything so far. I know that's not enough, and I haven't had that many visitors. It was good in early September, I think I had 500 that month, now it's gone down to 50. Still, I don't want to get caught up in that worry, checking stats every few days, etc. I'm just getting into Twitter, but I'm not going with Google+. I just don't like it, and Twitter is so easy to use!
Self-publishing's great, except I don't yet have enough material to publish. I've started wiring short stories - 4 of them now - and I'm planning to write a lot more, and I hope to put them into a downloadable PDF file. And I'm going to set up a survey, as well, to see if I can get to know my visitors. I'm not sure what's gonna work, or not gonna work, but that's the trial and error, I guess.
I've connected with a couple other affiliates - book publishing, and my niche is well represented there, so that could work.
