Hi, I would like to know if we'll be able to use custom DNS, Mx records soon. I would like to use one of my sites to create a landing page elsewhere.
Would you recommend
I need the CNAME to do the same thing. I was told it would be a few weeks about a month ago and someone else told me the same thing when I asked about it. So, I am going to use Mailchimp, although I had everything set up on MailerLite before I figured it out.

Hi mjbarrelet,
So two years ago you were talking about getting custom dns and mx records. Did anything ever come of it? I just requested a CNAME and MX record for one of my domains and was told no :(
I wanted to experiment with Cloudflare's CDN with a dev-site but it's a no go.
Hi,
Were you asking WA or another hosting company? I believe you are talking about your files on WA. I had to use an external hosting company, chose Bluehost, and I can do whatever I need there. Bluehost has been super helpful in helping me with what I needed. I host all my sites therefor I don't want to be tied down with a company. WA is great for many other things but not if you are more advanced and create your own products.
Hope this helps ;)
MJ
Thanks MJ.
I came to the conclusion but was hoping I was wrong. Since customer support is funneled through India, the communication process can be greatly extended. It took three hours with support to finally get the answer that I could not get the CNAME and MX record for a domain that I own.
I agree, WA provides a good service for training, community, research, etc., but if you want more control over your business, you'll need to find hosting for some of your projects outside of WA in order to manage the backend per your needs.
Your info definitely helped!
Thank you!
Mark

I have registered for a siterubix.com site two days ago. When I check my site within godaddy, it still shows as available. Why?
MJ,
Here is where you can purchase the .com version of your siterubix.com site my Friend!
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains
Better than GoDaddy, NameCheap and the rest because so much more is included.
Let me know if this helps MJ,
Tony
GoDaddy doesn't have access to siterubix.com so there is no way that anyone could purchase a siterubix site from there.
Does the GoDaddy site actually have the siterubix.com at the end?
If what you are seeing is a .com site available then yes it will be available until someone purchases it an has nothing to do with the siterubix.com site
In order to get the .com site that you have with siterubix.com you woukd need to purhase it and having the siterubox.com site is no guarantee that the .com version will be available.
Does this help answer your question my Friend?
I registered a free siterubix domain and I thought that it automatically keep my domain from someone else taking it. I guess I will go and purchase it then.
Registering siterubix subdomain names and their corresponding .com (.net, .org, etc) names are not related at all. Many names which are available as siterubix subdomains have already been registered as .com names.
If you've found a good name that you want to buy, it's probably best to grab it now before someone else registers it.

I'll be traveling soon and will be using free Wi-fi's. Which VPN brand would you recommend? I'm looking at PrivateInternetAcess, any problems with them?
My decision is to go with IPVanish for 3 months. It was easy to download and to configure. They also had lots of IP addresses with the connection time for each server.
To make sure your ip has been changed, you can check it here:
https://www.iplocation.net/
Also you can check your dns at dnsleaktest.com. For me it says I have a leak and it has actually reverted to my current internet provider. Now I'm not sure if this vpn makes any difference relating to being better protected.
I've got a problem with my Norton Antivirus which blocks it with its firewall popup. Do you know how to bypass it? It is marked as "allowed" in the Norton setting Program Control.
I have Norton 360 as my preferred virus protection. Each time I log in to IPVanish I get a dialog box that asks me if I trust this program. Let me check out my set-up and see if I can give you some tips.
Thank you for your time Duncan. I've checked that already and it is on "allow". Maybe I'll take it off and then go back on it and re-allow it to see if it does anything. I keep having continuous popups from Norton as soon as I engage that vpn. I will try it now...
I got the pop-ups often but eventually Norton seemed to understand that I will be using it often.
Computers!!! Somehow it works now... I'm glad! Closing now, so I'll see what's happening tomorrow....
Again thank you for helping ;)
Have a great evening!

This is something I'd been wondering about for traveling. Your question is helpful. Does device type you use make a difference in choice? Can multiple devices use one account?
A premium brand offers peace of mind, you'd think. A money back guarantee would be valuable. An aspect to consider, especially with free VPN services would be ultra security. Others would high speed, speed cap, download cap, easy to use and set up. One review I read rated totalVPN as best overall free service. A geek I know loves Tor.
Let us know your choice!
There are many free ones available but have limited servers numbers and don't provide the protection we want if we are travelling. My VPN - one yearly price - is set up on my laptop, tablet and smartphone along with the same devices that my wife owns. Six devices, one low price. Have used it in Asia, Australia, and the USA.
I have used IPVanish for the past 12 months. It is rated as the best worldwide with an ever growing number of servers and no collecting of personal details. Once you sign up, last year US$62/yr, you can use it on multiple devices at once.
On my website, I have a blog that shows how it works and why IPVanish is the premium provider.

This post will explain it a little.

This might depend on what mobile device you are using. Android has some, I Phone has some and so on. Here is some advice from PC magazine:www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2403388,00.asp

I changed my site name which now redirects my posts but all the links are broken. What should I do?
I am assuming you have changed your domain name. I use a plugin called Redirection and it has been happily chuffing along for about 7 months now.

You can't change a username you can only change the "Display Publicly As". Your readers will see what you change the display to, they don't see what's on your dashboard.

Hi John,
Thank you! But my posts were already marked as such, I rechecked them just in case but all were ok.
Any other ideas?
My bad. Go to the post(s), scroll down to the Author Box (below the editor) Choose your name
UPDATE you must hit UPDATE
then visit your site and it should show the author of your choosing. Just tried it with one of mine. Changed from my name to user and it worked.
Thanks... but done that too! Here is what I'm seeing under Users.. and I want to have my 3 posts showing for "admireyourwatch" which is the 3rd one on the list instead of in the 2nd in the list. See circle in blue...
When you click on the Author box, does this funny name show up there? I am not sure what the problem is, to be honest
