Is my niche too broad?
A lot of new members asked this question.
To find out if your niche is broad or not, there are two ways:
1. Type in Google for a search in brackets, e.g. "keywords" (keywords of your niche).
Google will give you an answer to tell you how many competitors there are. You have to surf to the last page of the search result and you will find it at the bottom of the page, it could be a lot. If you get over 30 pages, then forget it, there are too many competitors. That means you need to narrow down your niche. A nice number would be anywhere from 10 to 25 pages. That means up to 250 competitors.
2. Sign up a free Jaaxy account and do your search. So you are looking for a QSR (QSR is the number of competitors), which is less than 250. Jaaxy will give you more information, like monthly searches (it needs to have at least 200), and green/amber/red light. Best to choose one with green light. If you have a red light, that means you have to narrow down your niche.
Don't be dishearten if you find your niche has too much competition. Use your low hanging keywords first. You can compete with them later when you have traffic on your page. Also, read my other blog about "how to use the keywords" and it will give you an idea or what to do.
If you find that your niche is nice and narrow with good monthly searches, then you can branch out a bit to include something closely related to your initial niche.
One thing good to know is how popular your niche is. Go to "Google Trends" and type your keywords in the search bar, it will give you a graph and show you the current trend of your niche. Are there more people or less people interested in the niche. It is best to choose something which is becoming more popular.
As a beginner, it is not wise to choose "how to make money online?" as your niche. Firstly, there are too many competitions in the niche and will be very hard for you. Secondly, as a beginner, you don't know how to make money online yourself (since you just started), how do you teach others and talk about making money online?
If you want to promote WA, go ahead and do so. But to get good ranking using "Wealthy Affiliate" as your keywords will get you nowhere, too many competitions. You will have to come up with some good keywords. Some of the best methods are using your social network or email marketing. Put a newsletter in the supermarket or an advertisement in the paper, use your imagination.
May the force be with you.
