I keep wondering how I can improve the conversion rate between starter to premium referrals.
Most my referrals don’t set up their accounts, even though I tell them ho

I think something has changed rather drastically in the WA funnel. Looking at my stats history, in 2016 my conversion rate from Starter to premium was 14.5%. In 2017 that dropped to 8.6%. In 2018 that dropped even further to just 5.6%. So far in 2019 it's just 2%.

One thing I am sure of, is my optimisation is a lot better than it was in 2016, yet the conversion rate is less than half what it was back then for 2018.

It's gotta be something WA has changed in the way they try and upsell Starter members to Premium.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, Darren! I see I’m not the only one who’s going through this. In my case, in December 2017 (when I started getting referrals) my conversion rate was 10% and last year it was 7-8%, but this year it’s less than 4% so I wonder if it’s the products I review or what’s the problem. I wonder how many active affiliates are experiencing this.

Your pattern sounds the same as mine, so I doubt it's the products you review.

I think it's likely something on the WA end, the email sequence they send out to new members. I'm sure that would have changed over the past 3 years.

We have our part to play getting people to the platform, but like any affiliate program, once they arrive at the landing page, sales page or whatever, it's really up to the company selling the product to really close the sale. We're just referring people after all.

Like, if I send someone to a ClickBank product, I don't then join the ClickBank product and keep trying to close the sale on them. It's up to the product's owner to do that part.

We have no control over WA's email sequence or how they present the site to new members. I really think something has been changed there that's not converting anywhere near as well.

Sometimes it will be the kind of traffic that's joining, but even then, if they've read our WA reviews first, they'll know what they're getting into. It won't be a surprise or anything.

Fact is most people want a get-rich scheme. They don't want to do the work. They are also the ones who will pay a fortune for an empty promise and get burned every time.

I understand what you are saying, but unfortunately don't have a solution. I've had 5 people accept my invitation for the free membership, but they don't follow through with setting up their accounts either, much less go to Premium.

Probably they were curious and just wanted to see what WA is about and decided it's not for them, or they wanted the make-money-overnight scenario.

If I remember correctly, I think Kyle said the conversion rate was around 12% or something like that. So you'd need 100 referrals to go to Premium to get 12 successful sign-ups.

I think the conversion ate is way lower than 12% these days. It used to be that high. Something has changed, but I don't know what it is.

It take a lot of time to convince people to join. I really do not think you are doing anything wrong. Like Robert mentioned, you can lead a horse, and let them decide if the want quench their thirst or not.

Hi Mirren - what is your conversion rate and what is the average, do you know?

I think a lot of people just don't want to do the work and keep looking for get-rich-quick schemes.

I don't mind getting rich slowly :-)

Good luck with your progress.
Ian

You got good advice just keep trying and you are putting in the effort yourself. Share with them the love that exists at WA community,

tom

Miren its just like taking a horse to water but you cannot force them to drink it.

You will be like the rest of us and probably have lots of people who signup but then after the 7 days trial they leave or they stay as free members.

Some of them will not even put anything on their profile page and a lot of the time not even a photo.

Don't worry about it and keep working on your website.

Enjoy your Thursday.
Robert

I am wondering if you have the auto E-mail messages set up for when they first join and thereafter.

Blessings!

Yes, I do.

maybe you need to prequalify people coming over here.
maybe you have a quiz - where people have to put in effort to get through to wa, these are the ones who are more likely to sign up and take action?
just thoughts.
phil

I tell them what they need to know before joining and also tell them not to join if they’re not willing to take action.

yeah but people see free account and sign up - what it should be is a low fee like $1 for 30 day access.
so maybe you create a high quality product for a low fee and let them in that way, as an upsell?

See if this helps

Hi guys,

I just noticed that some images of my posts get ranked higher than the actual post, and I don't understand why because in my All In One SEO plugin general setti

Good to read Miren and I hope you got your answer. It doesn't sound so bad, I never saw if on mine before. Good luck,

Hi Miren, I am pretty sure Trish has answered your question. Sorry I can't help. All the best.

Hey Miren,
I see that Trish has answered your question. If you still need some help just let me know.

Hey Miren,

See screen print below to see how to access blogs here at WA that explain this...

Hope you find this helpful.

Wow! I didn't know images also could be ranked by Google!
Definitly we'll end up learning everything on WA!
Thanks so much Miren for raising that question. I'm sure you've already got your answer just like through you many of us have got it the same way.
God bless you!

Thank you for asking this question because I had no idea and now I know.

Just brilliant.

I know that I look for images all the time because i a visual and like to see images and sometimes when I tap into images I go straight to the website or blog attached to it, and a lot of the time I get engaged in the content attached to the image.

So it works both ways I suppose.

Just brilliant

Because either way you are getting views with means you are getting traffic.

This is my limited take on it.

Hi Miren,

Here's why ... Image engagement and popularity ...

If you do a search on Google Images and you click the 12th image down and a lot of people start doing that, Google will move it up, just like in the web results, but sometimes even more so with images.

In other words: if your image has been found and clicked many times in image search results, the ranking of that image is increasing without affecting the ranking of the actual post

Interesting thank you, I had no idea

That makes sense, and I see the advantages to get your image ranked. I had the same problem with images being included in my sitemap. Once I deleted or replaced an image, then google claimed there was an error because it couldn't crawl it anymore. The problem with All in One SEO is that you can't really control which exact images get included in the sitemap. I can tell it to only include images from posts, but it will include every random image that it can instead of letting me control it. I don't have the pro version, but I haven't been able to get an answer of whether that will help or not. Currently looking into Yoast SEO.

Hi Daniel,

I'm using Yoast. In my opinion is better.

Does it allow you to control which images get included in the sitemap? How much is the premium or pro version?

As far as I know it doesn't ... The premium version Is about $90 for one site

have you ticked the noindex media box- just because you say you don't want to seo an image doesn't mean it will not be indexed.
even with the noindex - if the search engines want to they will index whatever is published, it is just advisory.
phil

I think this has to deal with the Keyword You used for the Image, Search Engines are always sensitive on keywords that people search for on a normal basis.

I don't know Miren.

I need to sit on the fence to hear what others say, sorry my friend.

I want to know why, too. Ths is new to me and I don't understand it.

Ok, first I want to say I'm not an expert.
However, I read a lot, there are several possibilities in your case:

You said you have 300 posts, it's a good idea to revisit them and see if they all deliver valuable informations.
Most of the time the first posts we wrote when we begin are not so good.
You can either refresh them or just delete them.
Only keep the posts you think can have a good ranking and have a clear value to the readers.

Recently Google just update their algorithms, it can also be a reason.

What you should keep in mind is that Google Bots will visit your website again and again, and if it sees you're not delivering something useful to them, they will stop ranking your pages.

However, It seems not possible Google will blacklist you, they only want to see the value of your contents.
It will become more and more competitive in the near future because they will use AI for page ranking more and more.

In your case it seems it has something to do with your older contents.

Good Luck

Hi

Have you had any site feedback from WA?
or from the give and take section

I have looked at your website in past and every look wonderful to me.

I just had SiteSupport look at an issue with my site that is similar to yours.

Since the end of June, the number of pages indexed on Google has been dropping. It has happened regardless of adding content and getting notification from WA that the content is getting indexed.

I looked through the new Google Search Console and found that a large number of my pages and images were being found as NoIndex by Google. I double checked my back office and none of them were checked NoIndex.

SiteSupport generated a new sitemap for me to submit, and so far several of the ones I've checked do not show NoIndex in search console anymore. But I have to wait a few days until Google crawls the site again to know if everything is back to normal.

Maybe you are experiencing something similar?

Janelle

Thank you for this. I was wondering why I kept getting reports from Google say noindex when it is not on my site.

Maybe a problem from google end.

I will keep an eye on that.

See if this helps - Understanding keywords

I just noticed one thing of what you told here:

you are putting keywords on more places than taught here at WA. You have put them as well in the middle and end, while they teach only in the first paragraph or second paragraph other than the usual meta, title, image stuff.

Implementation of video is also very important. Content can be good for keywords, but is it stuff that people are actually looking for too?

I am also wondering if you really do use low competition if you are not ranking for them. Get some posts with a QSR below 50 or 25 and see what that does. Write natural. Of course, I didn't see your site, so don't see it as judgement - I have no clue how you write.

What is your topic or niche ?

Google communicates to you through the Search Console, they will tell you if someting is up with yuor website or if it has been penalized. You can also check for spammy backlinks and disavow them if needed.

i've noticed since a google update in January that it does take longer to rank articles. I have articles i wrote nearly 2 months ago and I am just now starting to see traffic from it.

not sure what it is that is causing the slowness.

I once read that Google doesn't always notify if there's something wrong with your site. I read that there are times you don't get any communication.

Same here, I don't know the cause of this slowness. In January my posts were still ranking good, but it's been getting worse since June. I also noticed that some of my posts that initially got ranked don't appear anymore.

Google did a large core update in August and it has effected many web sites, even sites that were large, many years old and had authority .

Very frustrating.

There is the drect notifications via manaul actions against your site such as a penalty , you would see that in manual actions on your Web Master tools.

There is another type of rankings change which feels like a penalty but it is not. It is comes as the result of a site's rankings changing due to a new Google core update. Granted some sites see a big rankings change up. Seems these days those are an exception.

Changes you are seeing could be related to many causes.
Google does not tell you what you did wrong, only that other sites that were not ranking well are being rewarded and are moved above you in the rankings.

great stuff vince. Through most google updates, rankings bounce back in a month or two.

Sometimes yes, but sometimes no. It depends on things.
Some thoughts about this update had to do with EAT, expertise, authority and trust. But, yes sometimes rankings rebound.

we simply need to figure out what Google now "wants" or "sees as the new way of communication".

Good chance that a big part has to do with being mobile focused as well as writing towards the readers and not to the keywords or search engines.

Hey there,

I'm really worried and trying to find what's wrong...
I've reached 300 posts on my site, and last week they used to get ranked within minutes. I use the Fe

Boomer did a great video which I found very helpful.

Hope this helps

I used to stress out about post being indexed. Not anymore - I follow the procedure as I have always done and in due time my post is indexed and ranked

Me, too. I have a bunch of posts that haven't ranked at all. Sometimes it takes weeks for my posts to rank. That you get them ranked within minutes is amazing. But then I don't always Fetch as Google after I publish. Should probably do that. :^)

Hi Miren,

I understand your feeling because that happened to me sometimes as well.

You know most of the time I can get my posts rank within minutes. But there are times when it just suddenly can’t be ranked so fast. I also worried and kept thinking what I did wrong or Google penalize me or anything like what you mentioned.

You can try resubmitting the sitemap. But just give it some time I would say.

are you checking they are getting indexed ?
using the site:yoursitename

Hello Miren, if I was you I would not be worried. Even you are used to quick indexing it sometimes take some days. Give them a couple of day more.

Have a nice day

I hope this is only temporary, maybe it's too soon for me to worry about this.

Surprisingly I am experiencing a similar situation. I write all my blog posts using SiteContent which automatically informs me when my blogs are indexed but for the last few posts, I have not received any notification. This is a first time for me. On the other hand, a few of my earlier posts were suddenly all indexed on the same day. I haven't pressed the panic button yet but thanks for raising this question. Hopefully, this is just transitional...

Wow... how long it's been since this started happening? Hopefully they will get ranked eventually. I also hope this is temporary... You can PM me if you want to talk about this.

I've had posts be indexed within 24 hrs, and I still have others that have yet to be indexed. I don't think you're doing anything wrong, just give it time.

The ones that have not been indexed, how long it's been since you published them? I mean, are they posts that you have recently published?

One was posted two weeks ago, the other 2 days ago.

Not every post will get indexed at the same rate, I wouldn't panic if your posts have been getting indexed and ranked with efficiency in the past.

Google has gone to MOBILE first though, so if you are not delivering pages that are mobile friendly, this could really start to hurt rankings moving forward. :)

Hi Kyle,

I did the mobile friendly test for some of my posts and it says that they're optimized for mobile, so I hope that my posts not getting ranked is something temporary.

Sometimes it takes a few days. Be patient.
Jerry

Yes, I agree. I need to be patient.

Hey WA affiliates,

I'm wondering if this has happened to those of you who have more experience than me.
I was taking a look at my monthly stats from June and I notice

Sounds like a glitch to me

Hi Miren
Please take it up with Kyle. It is probably a glitch somewhere in the system, or with how your notifications are setup. They will be able to sort it out for you.

No, one of me came back too, I got a notification

You got the notification the same day your referral resubscribed?

Yes, the premium date was the same

I didn't get one on my recent ones either. Nor did my first message go out.

Not had this issue.

Tried and True

Elaine

Good for you =)

No. If someone resubscribes I get an email saying new commission

Same here, two days ago one of my referrals resubscribed and got the "a new WA commission" email, but some days ago I made another resubscription sale (according to my monthly stats) and still haven't got any notification. It's so strange...

Go with the fail safe... "Contact Kyle" lol.

Yeah... I see I’ll have to do that.
