I highly recommend that you convert to WordPress. The training here is all focused around that software platform. Schema also works better with WordPress as opposed to Squarespace.

To answer your question though, there is not a way to edit inside the data tool. Editing must be done on the website and then the tool will reflect the changes.

If I have a directory listing on Yelp, Facebook, etc. does it count as a backlink since my website is listed?

Yes, it counts as a backlink. Citations are used in local SEO. They count as a backlink, but they also are important to Google My Business. You need to make sure that the Name and address fields need to match exactly.

While doing research on my competition, I discovered that the keywords that they rank for don't necessarily appear on the page associated with that keyword. For instance, their

check out the source of their page -and see if they use keywords - similar to all in one seo. the other thing they maybe using is tags.
but backlinks and lsi ( similar) keywords will make a difference.
if it is a local business then their gmb listing may have tose keywords.
if you google things now a lot of sites don't have the exact phrase and this is where google is trying to get into themes rather than exact keywords, with its database full of data it can start to see patterns and return results based on those rather than just direct.
no proof but the start of ai?

Wait, don't go! You're using phrases I'm not familiar with yet.
- How to check out the page source? Does that mean simply visit their site and look around?
- What is all-in-one SEO? Can I find articles about that here?
- "Tags"?
- "GMB" listing? It is a local business. Part of the reason I'm confused is that even though the site looks like it was built in the MySpace days and has no articles or blogs, it still ranks #1 on the first page of Google.

to check the page source - right click on the page and select view source ( firefox) - there are other bits for macs and chrome differs dlightly - but research it if you are not sure.
then use the find ( usually ctrl + F) and type in keywords, or tags - this may show you what they are ' hiding ' from you.

if you don't use wordpress then you are not familiar with the all in one seo plugin
-setup a siterubix site here and enable the all in oe plugin - have a look at the tutorials on their site.

tags are a bit like the index of a book, common words that link the pages together - like chicken would be a tag for all chicken recipes, you could also tag all the other ingredients for that recipe and cooking methods.
this gives google a list of the words you use on your site a lot and is able to link you to other parts of its database.

gmb - google my business - a free listing for local businesses - allows you to try to get onto the three pack on page one, i thought it used to list more.

ranking is more than just keywords, google has over 200 parts to its algorithm, so backlinks, popularity, age all have a determining factor. install seo quake and see what authority google puts on its page.
but if it is done right a local business can be on page one and stay there. local seo is another area of general seo that specialises in local businesses.

Thank you for explaining that!

no worries - hope it helps you find out more info on your competitors.
who are they?

It's one of many higher-ranking bodywork practices in my city. Once I can nail down exactly what they are doing and how they are doing it, I can copy them. But as you can imagine, as a SEO newbie this stuff is anything but straightforward.

it is probably where they are listed - there are a few local business directories.
and getting advertinig links back to your site via local sites helps.
Jay has a few weinars in the live events - may be worth a watch.
but if you are new it is worth going through the basic training.
worth doing a search above for local seo- but don't try to run beofre you can walk, learn the basics first.
shout if you need anything

Oh thanks! I'm going to search that right now!
