Today is a new day - Update

So today is 5th September, almost 2 months in and where am I. I think this will be helpful to newbies.

I have trained myself stupid in here to the point of overload, I now need to stop and let my sponge absorb. I have focused on the WA site, learning, reaching out and helping and to be honest I have not paid too much attention to traffic generation to my site. The lure of blogs and meeting people has definitely taken priority, whether this is a good or bad thing I don't really know but today brings change.

I made a job decision this morning that may go against the grain of normality but at 50 I want to make decisions now based on my goals and not on an employers. If I am not here in 2 months then please return to this last sentence.

I have decided to completely scrub my first site on tooth whitening, I did it because I was a dentist but actually it bores the pants off me, I left dentistry for a reason and it was not to write about it. So teethwhitening.siterubix.com is gone today.

I will focus now on 4 areas. 1/ My WA site to get some referrals purely as a learning exercise in traffic generation and social platforming 2/ A broad site that I am working on with a WA friend up north 3/ My goal website site based now on what I know and 4/ My new book. Not to forget the UK meeting for WArriors in early 2014.

This is quite the journey and it has been so enjoyable.

This amount of information on a new topic takes time and as I wrote in my blog 'why am I not successful' we cannot push it and expect success too quickly. So I will now allow the sands of time to fall and work smarter.

God Bless you all

MikeyB

Im in the same boat Mikey, i started a site that im interested in but had issues with my host and started spending time setting up a new one and moving it over. But in the mean time I decided not to and get on with a site on the new host dedicated to WA and get back to training. I have had limited time due work and an up coming away business trip next week. I feel your making a good descision with your future plans. Im in for the long haul so see you in a couple of months. PS im over the 50 now mark as well.

yes I think its the way to go....Cheers Kazrok

Well said Labman and precisely the reason why I've gone on radio silence for a bit so I can focus on the lessons. I have a feeling they are the nitty gritty resources I need to do this. The internet connection isn't helping any but I'm sticking with it.

Sometimes people forget that this place is a learning environment and get overlly involved in the social aspect of this site.

Ranking is nice and the social engagement here is nice but the real goal is to make a living at this so that the time is available to socialize.

Congratulations on getting your priorities straight.

May you happily follow your new path and may that path lead to incredible success!

You sound like a smart and grounded man! Thanks for the advice.

A new perspective can be exhilarating! Enjoy your journey! Your goals stuff really is excellent.

Thank you mama

You are welcome. I really am excited for you.

MikeyB. I would be privileged to be of help if I am qualified! LOL Let me know if you need me! God bless your efforts! Glad you are going to be around.

Hey MikeyB, I interpret this to mean we will be seeing less of you. I selfishly do not want that. I am ejoying your input and was wanting to cultivate a friendship! However, I wish you the best whatever you do! Hope to be able to keep up with your success.

By the way it is my understanding that it can't be siterubix if you want to use adsense.

Dan

No I will be here, I just need to focus more on my writing.....

My love is writing and I have to get this book started, did a couple of hours this morning. you are a pstor right....I could benefit from your insight actually, maybe a preface to my book.....

That's pretty much the same way as I have gone in parts 1 & 2 Mike, using the WA site to get up to speed with Wordpress and in the meantime building, with the (rather slow) help from a "proper" designer, my main site. It's that one I am working on at the moment having taken a conscious decision to spend a lot less time on WA, and slowly but surely it is coming together.

I definitely think it is the right way to go, excitement is sparring with frustration as I am trying to help get the site up and running properly in between my designer doing her bit but I keep getting stuck along the way. But I am going to keep trying and testing and tweaking, we are both on the right road even if it gets a bit rocky along the way, we are going to get there eventually.

well I think 'eventually' is the key word Gary, Thank you for your e-mails of support and help

Anytime, you know that.

Nice! Although you just leave your teeth whitening site up and do the very bare minimum and see what happened. That`s what I did with an old site of mine and it actually recently led to a couple dollars in revenue here and there. You just have to throw on a new post here and there and respond to any comments. Nice set of projects though, challenging but doable.

you think leaving it up is worth it then

Of course! Nothing to lose afterall.

Ok I will leave it up and just tinker, thank you

Yes it's a fair point, nothing to lose by leaving it and it might be worth adding to in a quiet moment.

Oh and for backburner websites, it might be worth your while to set it up with some adsense ads. That`s the lazy way to monetize lol.

cant do adsense on a siterubix , right

Oh I`m not sure. Never used a siterubix since when I first came to WA, I had already bought a few domains.
