Changing Themes After Purchasing the PRO Version! Yup.

You read that right.

I have decided to change themes - yep, you hit the nail right on the head and read that correctly.

It has come to my personal and professional opinion that my website is absolute garbage with the number of visitors not increasing and the bounce rate increasing over time.

I have also realised that this may have a lot to do with my crappy, magazine-style front page which is not really in-line with my business goals.

I am trying to lead people by the hand and show them where the logical steps would be to find information they're looking for.

It's a tough pill to swallow - but I have already purchased ThemeZee's Maxwell Pro theme.

I was so sure that the theme I had was going to stick with me forever, but I am realising now, every time that I visit my web page, that I actually hate looking at it.

I do NOT want the blog-roll to be my front page.

I do NOT want a magazine-style front page with a random array of nonsensical clutter everywhere.

I want a precise, to-the-point webpage where people know what's up right away and don't have to guess what my site is about you know?

I would like to naturally show people where they want to be clicking.

I do not want to let people guess where to go and fumble around, having to click 19 times to get to where they want to be.

So with all this said, it's time for a theme change.

I am ditching the theme I PAID for (it sucks) but it's for the better in the long-term.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

What theme are you using now? I really like your site! Thanks for the honest post and addressing the downside of the blog look.

Mike,
I have no experience, but I would ask Triblu, she is the best reference I can give with closed eyes.

I haven't changed mine yet, but I did sit through Jay's Training on how to change themes. I am not altogether happy with mine, but I've not gotten to a place where I feel it is complete enough yet to really be able to tell. I need to be writing more content. I'm hoping that once I do that, then I'll like my site more, period.

Thanks for sharing, Mike. I've had a similar (bad) experience. My previous Theme Pro was showing different issues....

It was a hard decision because I loved its design, but, couldn't leave it destroy my today's and future efforts. My today's Theme is simple & nice, but, more important - won't cause me problems. I learned that lesson hard way:)

Hi Vesna, thank you for stopping by to share your thoughts. I am glad you got everything sorted out now. :)

Not yet. I know I could use a better-looking theme for my sites. But I am not sure it will have anything to do with my traffic. I will wait for another 6 months or so and see what my instincts tell me. But I am glad you made an executive decision about your business. Let us know how it turns out. Thanks for sharing.

The issue I was having was WITH the traffic I was getting. The bounce rate is too high, so even if I drive a lot of traffic, a lot of that traffic will be turned waaaay off by an ugly theme :)

Makes sense to me. I have been using free themes and maybe I should monitor more but I am still new and give a lot of time to building out right now. But keep us posted on how you are coming along.
