When it comes to citing sources and references to my blogs, should I ask the original author permission before I do so?
I can only answer this from a research aspect. Both in Uni, and day today life, when writing articles and you quote someone else you must always cite them. However I've never known anyone asking authors permission first. It's different if you copy their works without permission. I would suggest it's no different when writing web articles. Jim
Hi Michael, if you cite something that is publicly available, you don't have to ask for permission as long as you mention the originator.

As far as I know, if you are citing someone and you are giving them the credit I don't believe you need their permission. but on the safe side, I would get their permission this way they can't come back and say something. This way you are safe.

When writing content for my website should I cite my sources of information? I am not looking for the usual "do what I love" answer.
It is great practice to give folks a pat on the back when the opportunity comes.
Great question.
Joe
Yes, of course -- always give credit where credit is due ... generally though, if there is duplicate material found by Google, it'll get bounced or banned even so be cognizant of what you are writing -- it's expected that your writings are your own as much as is possible... as original as your thoughts can be... enjoy the journey! ... cheerio... :)
It's important to cite sources you used in your research for several reasons: ... To be a responsible scholar by giving credit to other researchers and acknowledging their ideas. To avoid plagiarism by quoting words and ideas used by other authors.

You have to find a niche that you are passionate about don't worry if it not hot on the market. You have to find your own niche that you can relate to.
You will do fine not to worry about it. You will find something that you are passionate about. Then you can write your about me page.
Best wishes on your journey with WA.
Choose a niche not based on how hot it is on the market, but rather one that you have a genuine interest in :) This will make the continual content you'll need to create for it to be less of a chore and much easier for you since you enjoy the topic.

If not, then what is/are the hot niche(s) on the market?
I don't know if it hot market but that would be a good niche for you to start as long as you research it.
First, any niche dealing with health issues is hot.
Second, If you can draw from experience, whether yours, family.or friends.
Third, There is a wealth of info you can gather from. Make yourself a list of who it affects, how it affects, and what it affects?
It is a hot topic in the health field.
Within twenty minutes you probably have most of your content, for your website written down.
Stay the course Mike!
