Street Articles Link Removed From Sidebar

You have probably noticed that the Street Articles link is no longer on the sidebar. It appears that if this was intentional then article marketing is being de-emphasized as a way of building backlinks. Good. I have found article marketing to be a lot of work for little gain. Also was the Street Article link that good to begin with? In the internet article directory world Street Articles was never really mentioned along with the big boys.

So what is WA proposing for a back link strategy now?

Still it improves your ability to write.

I believe I saw something that stated that the Article Directories are no longer beneficial in helping you get you content ranked. Its late and I am tired so I forget where I saw it though. I think it will be going through some sort of renovation too I heard someone say. Sorry I don't have the direct answer for you.

The guru Matt Cutts at Google has supposedly downgraded aricle submissions. Most of the stuff I see on these are junk anyways. Respins of others' material.

I only wrote two articles for SA, and left it at that. My last attempt to add another one, ended up going on my website, because I kept getting error messages for links, no matter what I tried, so I just gave up.

Yes, but SA is still in the training section Certification Courses. I still haven't finished this training partly due to not writing another SA article. Takes me hours (over several days) to get an article written with everything else to be taken care off. Then I think, "that could have been an article on my website".

They are good for practising your writing though, especially when you are just starting your website.

AnnieB, that's been my exact thinking. I've mentioned it a number of times too, that blogs and articles could all be a my site posts, so I am doubling the amount writing I am doing.

I posted a couple but creating content for SA takes time from creating content for website.

Bubblews.com

This is also a spam site that won't be taken seriously by Google.

I knew I spoke too soon. It certainly won't bring customers to your site, but it does generate income, which SA didn't. So I guess my response was irrelevant. Sorry.

I don't know, I know the site well and it seems like a fighting for pennies strategy. It doesn't really build in the long term like a personal site can.

Here's my article on the alternatives, I'm not a big fan of social networks either, I note why in the end.

I wrote one article in ten minutes yesterday after another WA blogger suggested it. I so far have $1.36. I'll check out your link. Thanks.

Interested in keeping up with this one!

I would sure like to know the answer to your question Mike! I know that social signals play a big part, but has G+ and FB taken over the strategy of backlinking to bookmarking sites? I would like to know that. Also, what are the differences between strategies for back-linking local sites as opposed to online sites? Or is backlinking still effective at all? I've heart some marketers claim they spend more energy on on-site optimization these days. Anybody have any tried and true strategy helps? Thanks in advance to everyone!

Backlinking is not a beneficial tactic at this point.

I'd go with comments on relevant blogs. I get a lot of traffic that way and I have noticed huge jumps in Alexa ratings on the days when I leave comments compared to when I don't.

Street Articles is definitely seen as a spam directory, I know that's a taboo thing to say because it's part of the WA business, but that's the fact of the matter.

Guest posting on other popular sites is still a good thing, I accept article submissions and keep a list of those who do. But it's only valuable for sites that really filter the content and aren't meant for posting articles in general but have particular niches.

Also using Yahoo answers helps build authority and credibility
