First-A Tidbit for the New Folks!

I know when you first get started building a website and creating blog post content it's an alien world and it can be a little overwhelming to do something so out of the ordinary!

There is a learning curve, that most of us didn't come here with. But hang in there, it gets much easier. The next section of this blog post is for your benefit!

Now the pleasant surprise !

So I spent the afternoon yesterday looking over some of my older content after watching Jays video from a month or so ago on what else but freshening up your old content.

I was going over some posts on website #2 which is my MMO website. I have 46 posts on that one and wanted to freshen up a few posts and look them over to see what I could optimize and make them a little better. And I actually got a surprise, but not the pleasant one!

Out of the first 9 articles I wrote, 6 of them absolutely suck!

I mean they aren't just embarrassing, but they are a fart in a math test embarrassing!

(I'm sorry, I had to!LOL)

I don't drink or do drugs, so I suppose it was writing all night long and not realizing anything past the fact that they passed the spelling and grammar test! They were awful !

Well obviously, I spent this afternoon working on images and basically re-writing two of those posts! I brought them up quite a bit, but still work to do.

This was the culprit of trying to dive into a subject and write a blog post on something I had done very little research on! In fact I did that 6 times ! There are a few other oh well type posts that I would give a c+ on if I were grading. But I will be spending the next couple of days making the terrible 6 presentable!

So if you are new here and starting to create content for the first time in your life, don't worry it will get better! Just make sure you look back after 6 months and be sure that you didn't post 6 train wrecks like I did !

I've been working in the analytics dark!

I made a point to resolve myself to not look at analytics or site rank, or see if any of my posts were ranked when I started. The reason was an article I read by Pat Flynn talking about reasons people give up, and analytics was at the top!

People watch analytics and when they don't see huge improvement they give up. So since I knew that the only way I was going to be giving up on Wealthy Affiliate is if Kyle and Carson get tired of my war and Peace blog posts and kick me out! LOL

I will admit I have taken a peek a few times at analytics over the first six months, and ....well...don't! It will pop your bubble! Just work, grind and the results will come!

Now.....the pleasant surprise !

At 10:00 PM EST, I was working on some research for two posts I have coming up tomorrow and Wednesday, and went to a website on a Google search to read a blog about this subject.

While I was reading the blogger had linked to another article. I clicked the link and started reading, thinking something was strangely familiar. Then it hit me !

I was reading one of my own blog posts ! How the heck did this happen!?!?!

Then I investigated further. and discovered that the post in question was in the #2 spot on page 1 !!!! SOMEONE GET THE TEQUILLA !

Wow! I hadn't been watching that sort of stuff and it really surprised me ! But that's not the biggest part of the surprise !

Of course I then had to look at my other posts, and ended up doing a Google search on each post, and guess what? I have 4 posts on page #1 ! And that's still not the biggest surprise!

The biggest surprise is that one of my posts that I am so embarrassed about is one of the ones on page 1 !!!! YOU GOTTA BE KIDDIN!

Folks I will be the first to say that I have a long way to go! But that was pretty cool!

And to anyone out there who feels overwhelmed.....stay the course ! Keep on keeping on! It doesn't make a lot of sense when you start and during that time when you are writing content to a ghost town, it seems useless. But it's not!

I truly believe that what we are doing here at Wealthy Affiliate can change lives, starting with Mine and Yours ! Hang in there !
