Hello all! I hope everyone is doing well and progressing in life as well as wealthy affiliate and your online business !

I haven't spent as much time here in the community lately because I actually have a lot going on, and I'm having a ball with it! From working on a book and an ebook to starting to build some affiliate sales funnels and putting content on my websites, I've been pretty tied up! In fact I almost hate to call it work because it's so fun!

If I have learned one thing, it is that being busy isn't necessarily a good thing!

I still fight bouts of being busy and lazy as I'm sure everyone does, but lately I've been trying to concentrate on being productive while I'm busy. There's a really big difference! Being busy can be a lot of different things. And one of my big distractions that make me busy is not concentrating on one thing at a time. When that happens I have a chicken little mentality and get nothing done!

I am getting better at it, but it's still a work in progress, as everything is! One of the two most helpful things I have done is learning to turn my phone off before I start working! That is a big one, because it seems as though every time I start working the phone rings or there is a notification for an email, text message, Facebook post or many other things. So turning the phone off was a big deal!

The next thing I have done is probably the biggest! Staying on task and staying on page. Staying on task is an easy one to explain. When you start to work on a project work only on that project, easy. Staying on page means that if I'm working online the only page or tab I have open is what I'm working on. I learned that while I'm working on something, if I open YouTube or some other source I get sidetracked and then become busy without being productive.

The plan for planning

From the time I first heard Kyle say it in training, I have tried to make plans for upcoming content. But it always becomes skewed off track because I don't stick to the plan.

I Had a Brain dump for each website and generated ideas for over 200 posts between 3 websites. Then did keyword research and have a list of over 400 keyword phrases. But the glue to hold that plan together is to do it! And that means that when it's time to create content, that is all I do. No research, no backspacing the correct spelling errors, just content. The research should be done beforehand and the spelling errors can be corrected before posting the content. It has made me much faster.

I still have a long way to go, and I am by no means a Content Superman! But it has gotten so much easier to stay on task and get things done! Hopefully in the coming months I will get even better!

I just thought I would put this up here today in case there are other people who are having the same problems I've been battling.

I hope everyone is doing well and you're learning and business is growing!

Everyone have a fantastic day! Best of success, and Godspeed!

Mike

this is so helpful, thanks so much for sharing

It is so easy to get sidetracked, Mike. Planning is essential and when I get sidetracked my website roadmap leads to a maze where you get lost. Focus and planning are essential.

I love affiliate marketing! I've been doing it since 1999 and don't intend to do anything else for the rest of my life. Glad you love it too.

I agree. When you are writing content about something you love or are passionate about, it doesn't seem like work anymore. Plus it's motivating to know that it can lead to revenue down the road like an investment. Each content article is like a small investment in yourself. Great job!

When you are doing something you enjoy, work doesn't seem like "work" in my opinion.

I can definitely agree with you on that one.

Thanks for sharing!
Best,
Marcus

Its true work can be fun!

Mike, that is some great advice! Turning the phone off is the best for most people. Alexander Graham Bell is probably spinning in his grave seeing what the telephone has become!

Very encouraging post, Mike. Thanks! Content is King! So easy to get side-tracked, as you say. Well done for sticking with it. All the best, Colette and Philip

Hey Mike! It was great reading your post! Although I've been working hard on building two sites, I find I do at times get so overwhelmed with ideas that I just don't do anything because I know I'll end up trying to do multiple things at once then I'll get burnt out before I complete a single task.

I just end up with a bunch of incomplete work and then I'm uneasy because I know it's there to be completed.
