I guess you could say that this is a short part of my procrastination series ! LOL

I fight procrastination every day, and I know others do, so maybe this will help someone !

My latest posts have dealt with how to deal with short term procrastination, because it can slow your progress to your goals, and is the struggle may of us face! But there is 1 word and 1 phrase that will destroy everything if you let it, and they are part of long term procrastination!

Someday and One of these days are words we have all uttered from time to time and in many cases still rest on our lips for deployment in a moments notice !

Someday and One Of These Days, will ensure that all your hopes and dreams will follow you to the grave !

Do Not Let Them Win!

Go after them!

Ask yourself this simple question:

If I do this, what is the absolutely worse thing that can happen?

You may find that a quiet place to meditate on this answer will reveal that the biggest fears you have, are mostly just fears .

Have a fantastic week, and go after it !

Best of Success !

Mike

Thank you for sharing. That P word. Nuff said

Yup... Like me... I've been procrastinating on getting through my training here..... My procrastination word is TOMMOROW due to the fact that I'll get EVERYTJING done tommorow. Lol. Gotta get back in the groove of things. It's crazy how at least for me, I start off doing something full speed ahead but then kinda fizzle out a little bit. Thanks for this blog. It was something I really needed to hear today. Hope you have a great day and thanks again fo writing what I needed to hear!

You are absolutely welcome !
And thanks for the kind words !
You are not alone! I think we all suffer from the same disease of the "P" word !
When I post a blog, it's just what I'm working on at the time, and hope someone else benefits !

Best of success !
Mike

That's a good one, Mike.

"Someday" seems so innocent, which is why it's so deadly!

I've heard it said that procrastination stems from fear, so it's not just a matter of having a "just do it" attitude. If procrastination is a normal things for someone, it may be time to take a moment and do some serious soul-searching.

You make some great points Veronica !

I read an article on the Nike slogan " Just do it".
They actually put a ton of market research into that and millions of dollars!
It seams very simple, but I think Nike proved that it is easier said than done !

Best of success!
Mike

Exactly!

Sometimes, a "just d o it" approach is perfect. But if you;re struggling to "just do it" after weeks or months, perhaps it's time to switch gears and dig deeper.

Procrastination is my middle name. It's a struggle all my life but I'm trying to change it. It's like a drug addiction.

Hi Mike
Very well said. So true. Fear = False Evidence Appearing Real.
The 5 second rule (introduced by you and Kaju) is helping us a lot. Whenever something needs to be done, the other person already starts counting 5-4-3-2.... LOL - so no getting out of it.
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

I like to count backwards using the scoops of ice cream as they disappear from my bowl as they enter my mouth!

I couldn't resist!

How are you darling Sharlee!

Hi lovely friend Veronica! ;-)

LOL! ;-) Hmmm.... I like your thinking Veronica....

5-4-3 Oops, bowl is empty, need some more ice cream... 2-1- Oops that was a bit too much, 5-4...hmmm... now we need a bit more, not too much, 3-2-1,,, darn, that was too much ... 5-4 okay, now try really hard.... 3-2-1 SUCCESS!

That's not a bad idea, you know Veronica! I like that! [pondering] I wonder whether Hubby would buy into this story? ;-) LOL! But I'm going to try it none the less! ;-) LOL!

eHugs to you dear friend!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

LOL... you really do love your ice cream, Sharlee!

LOL! You are so much fun, I just couldn't resist! ;-)
eHugs ;-)

That was great!
I'm going to borrow that line.."Fear = False Evidence Appearing Real."
It will fit greatly into a post I'm working on for my website!

Best of success !

Hi Mike
You're welcome! Although I'm not the inventor of that, I heard it many years ago.
Wishing you much success, Mike!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

I'm a master procrastinator! I fight laziness every day. In my experience you have to be willing to die to what your body and brain are telling you and forge ahead, in spite of how you FEEL and do what you know is going to make you feel GOOD about yourself at the end of the day

Exactly!
I have determined that I can survive and do well with 6 hours of sleep one night and 4 the next. Back and forth.
It's pretty easy once you get accustomed to it!

If you have any health conditions , I wouldn't suggest it unless to talk to a doctor! (Disclaimer LOL)

Best of success !
Mike

I admit it. I am a major procrastinator and in the end when everything piles up I panic.

Just do one thing at a time !
Everything else will still be there !

Best of success!
Mike

so true. We fear the unknown. We just have step out side if our comfort zones.

Hi, Mike

For me, I would also add Later, how many times I told myself Later, Lol.

You're right we should get ride of these time wasting words and teach our brain that these words are not our friends, they're tricky.

Thanks for sharing this moment and I have a good week also.

Cheers.

Calvin

Ah, yes... that's a good one, Calvin.

The only problem with "later" is that it often becomes "much later", which turns into, "never"!

Hmm... I just thought of something:

LMN - Later Means Never!

Never LMN, Lol.

I know I get redundant sometimes , but it's absolutely true what Earl Nightingale said ! "You become what you think about"

In that case I'm a guy who is financially secure (not rich) and spending the rest of my life traveling the world !
Next stop Alaska for the salmon run!

Best of success !
Mike

Woaaaaaa, you're doing what a lot of people here wish they will be able to do here.

It must be something amazing a Salmon Run in Alaska.
Traveling is wonderful as you can see, try and learn some many new things.
It's definitely something I want to do.

Wish you the best Mike.

Calvin

Good sound solid advice.
Jerry

Thanks Jerry!
I just write about how I work on my short comings and battle them! It's nice to hear I'm not alone and maybe it helps someone !

Best of success !
Mike
