I am completely stuck because I want - and really need, for what I want to do - a web-site that is visually stimulating/appealing. I have purchased the ElegantThemes package . . .

Mike, would you mind posting a link to your site? I'd like to take a look around and help you out. Also, what kind of a look are you going for? Product sales directed, video and image based, or just something with a lot of information in the form of text that needs to look good?

First, let me be clear that I am NOT talking about using THIS message board. I know that is out of bounds. But some/many of the message board communities in my niche do not pr

from what I understand, the first thing that you should really be thinking about is providing value to the message board, not necessarily putting a link there just to get traffic. Can you help someone solve a problem that is posted on that message board? If so, write a blog post on your blog with relevant information that solves the problem and put a link to your blog post in the message board post. There might be a chance that more than one person has that problem and your post will solve it for more than just one person, hence maybe an opportunity for organic traffic.

This is pure genius and exactly how I would like to operate anyway. I want to help people on the boards. Love to write anyway. Just want to do it in a way that retains benefits from me and my site(s) along the way. This is perfection. Thank you! If I could like your reply a dozen times, I would! :-)

glad I could help.

Good luck with your posts!!

Do you have an option of a "signature" file on your posts? I learned that trick when I was an Avon representative. I just put the link in my signature file on my email. I got many leads just from that.

No I don't have a lot of experience with message board. Well I did in the beginning when we used get/put/and discussions boards. Basically before the "internet" of today with links/pretty pictures/etc.

Yes, I think I can put a link to my site on quite of few of these message boards. The rules and requirements for each site tend to vary, though. Yours is a good, simple thought, there. Thank you, bkcook.

You are most welcome. I may be calling on your help when I start going to message boards. But then, I won't be any more lost than I am around here most of the time. Let me know if it works.

I have a friend who is making a fortune in lead generation for onlilne college degrees. He has like a gazillian domains related to the topic, all of which (when I look closely)

Hi Michael, You can take a WordPress theme, and adapt it to be just the way you want it as your template. Then if you do a search for plug-ins for "clone", you will find a number of plugins that will duplicate all of those settings. With that, you can make exact copies of your template onto your new sites.

As far as cross-linking between your domains. Last I know of, there is no longer any advantage to do so. A Google Webmaster Help video with Matt Cutts brings up the topic of linking multiple domains together. Basically he says that it should not be done without a good reason, other wise it looks spammy. At the very end of the video, Matt says it would be a “cross linking scheme” to link all of these sites together, unless there was a “very good reason” to do so.

The only example I know of that he came up with to link multiple sites together, would be if they were localized for different countries. Even then he said it would be better to use flags, or a drop down to do the linking.

There are some black hat methods to do it, but that involves more work and money to do it. In my opinion not worth the trouble. If you get found out by Google. you will get no love for your links at the best, and may get that Google slap down for rankings.

The "Best" solution would be to get great content on your site, and then have another high ranking website in your niche provide a link to some of that content. Best wishes on your endeavors.

Thank you very much, drawshot. Thoughtful reply. That is consistent with the intuition I had and feedback I have received from other related questions. Thank you, again.

It does matter although I don't know how much.Search for some keywords within your niche and use the best you find.
Or figure out one for yourself and use that.
I used "vgacandyforyou" because I wanted to make the information I provide interesting and "delicious". And It covers my niche as well.
I hope you'll find your answer.
I wish you abundance and have fun!:)

Thanks for the encouragement and perspective, Blitz! Mucho appreciado!

Please private message me if you do. I need to ask some very specific advice.

Thanks!

I personally haven't seen one around here at WA, but I think that would be a good niche to target. Call of duty is a popular game. Do some keyword research and see how competitive it is.
