My First Wealthy Affiliate Upgrade
It's finally happened amigo's!
I have finally helped someone else change their life for the better.
Here's the truth... the main reason why I want to learn how this whole online marketing thing works is to help more people live life on their own terms.
I know that sounds fluffy and soppy... so...
The Truth About Me
The thing is I'm confident enough in my own life that I will always be OK.
I have been teaching internationally for the past 4 years and in this time have started a property portfolio in England. I understand a lot more about investing (use index funds FYI), and how to diversify between asset classes...
The 4 Asset Classes
Property (real estate for you Americans)
Paper assets (stocks shares bonds etc.... remember use index funds!... unless you spend all day reading about businesses like Warren Buffet)
Business (the whole point of this online business)
Commodities (gold, silver, oil etc.)
I am diversified within all of these assets now, so I know I will be OK if the economy takes a dive and I actually think I understand how I could benefit from any significat change.
BUT
More importantly... my wife and I know how to life off of $1,000 a month and be super happy.
Travel & Life
We have visited so many countries since moving to Qatar and could happily island hop South East Asia for the rest of lives (thanks $1,000 a month).
The thing is... that's not enough.
I genuinely want to make a significant difference to loved ones, people that are willing to make their life better and people who have it tough.
Back to The Point... Wealthy Affiliate Sale
This leads onto my original point!
Someone read my content I put on the internet, connected with something I said... found Wealthy Affiliate.. and had the cahoonas to dive in!
I'm genuinely super excited for them and really looking forward to helping in any way I can, and I feel I have learnt a lot about online marketing over the past 2 years.
I don't like the black hat tactics and pushy sales techniques... I like honesty, building relationships and helping people.
Enter Wealthy Affiliate's philosphy!
How Long Did it Take to Make a Sale?
I made $0.72 from an ebook after a couple of months.
I quickly realised this was pointless so changed attack!
I made a couple of Pinterest affiliate sales... but found it was constant marketing (although very good for certain niches)
Eventually I gave in and actually followed the WA training!
This next picture may make it a bit deceiving so make sure you read the next bit...
Only 16 referrals to get 1 upgrade!
Sounds easy right?
Well... no!
It wasn't easy.
The sceptical person that lives in me tried to resist WA for as long as possible.
I joined in September 2018... it's now just in October 2019.
But the more I connected with people... the more WA blogs (hopefully like this one) that I read, the more legit I realised the program was.
Is it quick... absolutely not
Is it legit and possible to build over time... absolutely!
Here are the true stats I wish people would lay on me when I started:
- I have written over 115 articles (all over 1,000 words most over 2,000 words)
- I have been distracted by shiny objects more times than I care to admit
- I have doubted myself numerous times
- I have spent so many hours every week working on this online business
Basically it's not easy!
But it becomes so worth it!!
I really only started focussing and following the training to a T since March (so that's about the last 6 months) and here is what's started to happen to my traffic from Google...
The rate of growth is frightening right? Just imagine where this will be in two months time?
I'm getting over 100 views from Google every week for the last 3 weeks (this week has only just started).
It's happening amigo... the training is really working!
This Year (September to September... I Still Work in School Years!)
I am lucky enough to have a super supportive wife who is continuing to work so I can take a year to focus all in on this online business.
The added benefit of this is I have more time to help more people joining Wealthy Affiliate.

Look, here's the truth I wish someone told me...
You don't know better... it will work... you won't see the results any time soon...
BUT stick with it! Don't skip a step.
If you feel like it's annoying to comment on someone else's blog to receive a comment... it's worth it.
If you don't understand why there's any point in using Bing... it's worth it!
Just follow it one step at a time and do EVERY step.
It really works guys... Wealthy Affiliate is the real deal and you will learn how to do it with ethics at the front.

Great stuff Mike.
I went premium in November last year, did very little until my xmas break, then back to my 12 hr a day grind. well I was being paid for 12 the time I put in recording the days events and workers times and preparation for the next day was gratis.
It is only in the past couple of weeks I have knuckled down and started hammering out posts and focusing my time to become more productive here.
This past week I have put out 3 posts, receiving notification this morning that the one I submitted last night is now indexed.
Making good use of the time on the computer is now a priority, As well as blog posts, I am also answering questions on Quora, tweeting twice a day, set up a new face book page and I posted here twice this week also.
I will still read something on Medium though.
My writing is now becoming faster and more fluent, research and appropiate photos take time,
I am trying to refrain from changing my page theme, but I lapse and mess around with other themes. Then tell myself to stop wasting time with it, People often tell it looks clean and ask which theme I am using. .

Working full time can certainly take its toll on getting what you want to achieve done.
Something I found towards the end of last year was waking up an hour earlier to write every morning (not check emails/ WA messages etc) started building momentum.
It was the same time every day for an hour. It's amazing how much you can actually get done if you can then put in another hour or so later in the day.
Defo don't worry about your theme, as long as it's not messy I really don't think it matters too much. As long as people can find your best content easily I'm sure it's great (I'd happily give it a look if you want another opinion on it though).

The content looks good, simple easy to follow, scan or read thoroughly.
Good colours and not overwhelming which is important
The homepage on Mobile is not great, not sure if it’s just your picture is too big/ if your theme is not optimised for mobile (what theme are you using?)
I personally like generatepress or any of the standard ones (twenty nineteen/ eighteen etc.) all have a free version which is more than enough
Simple enough to change though.

Also I noticed you use Etsy to sell silhouettes. Have you used Pinterest to help, as there is a massive market for that there?

Regarding Mobile mine displays much like your screen shot, but it displays well on a 2 friends phones. ? I am playing with the site to day.

Yeah, I think I got ranked for a couple of decent posts, so maybe it was just sorting where to place me in the pecking order (this last week hasn't finished though so we'll see at the end of the week)
Thanks Mike.... I only joined in July this year. I started to build my blog.
However mine has been put on hold.
This is the reason, my wife has had a blog and YouTube channel for a few years, but it never really took off. Now using the skills and information gained while doing the training I have been able to help her go in a new direction through affiliate programmes.
The sales are building slowly, but we were both aware it was not going to be an overnight growth.
We are now both committed to changing our lives and WA is a big part of that. So glad we found this community.
As a result of what we are going through I am sure we will be able to use our experience and story to help others reach for their goals and dreams too, and that is exciting.
