If you haven't already, you HAVE to read this post by Gina...

5 Months in: My Slow but STEADY model

Let me quickly introduce you to Gina...

In case you haven't already met Gina in the WA community here is a quick intro:

  • She is a full time HR manager
  • A wife
  • A mother of 3 children
  • A property investor in New Zealand (where she lives)
  • She loves all things travel, food, sports, music, hiking, and property development.

Simply put... she's one busy lady and pretty time poor!

She's been part of Wealthy Affiliate since November 2019 and found it hard to find any kind of consistency until she decided to set a daily goal in March 2020.

This goal was pretty simple really...

Spend 1-2 hours per day on WA time

  • 1.5 hours content writing.
  • 0.5 hours WA engagement.

---

Now I'm not going to spoil what she's managed to achieve since setting this goal, you need to read her post to find that out...

5 Months in: My Slow but STEADY model

But I will say this...

In the last 40 days she's achieved more than she did in the previous 4 months at WA.

And there's no sneaky tricks or anything special she has done. It's using the one rule that I also found out the hard way.

The Online Business Success Secret

Here's the one secret that everyone needs to know about success with any online business...

1 Hour a Day is Better Than 7 Hours Once a Week

Simples!!

How I figured this out

The number one thing that helped me when I was still in the full time job was 100% writing for an hour every morning.

It meant I had to have the research/ outline done before the morning and it meant I could just let my creative juices flow every morning before any other distractions got in the way... this led to me WANTING to make sure I was set up for tomorrow and funny enough, I ended up finding more time to work on my online business almost every day!

Hi Mike,

I love this post because of the friendship that you reveal and the idea of consistency for whichever model that works for someone according to the duties that we have. It's like in the gym, 15 minutes every day is better than hours once every two weeks...

Take healthy everyday,

Anne

Exactly that Anne, I find exercise and online businesses require a very similar habit/ mentality actually

This is such a good piece of advice!

I try to make sure that I do something within my business every day. Even on work days when I come home feeling exhausted both physically and mentally - if I can clear out my inbox, do some keyword research or gather together some research for my next piece of content. At the very least, watch some training that helps me do something better.

Sometimes it’s great though to have an entire day to work at stuff and make some big strides too!

Thanks
Dave

I forgot to say - thanks for the pointer to Ginas post. It’s a great read too and a great example for anyone short on time!

Yeah it really is a great post!

Glad that's working for you Dave. I found that doing something each day really helps for those unexpected days where you can make some big strides as you say.

If you start a day like that from a cold start then it can take some time just to get into the swing of things.

"Slowly and steady wins the race".
Some months ago I met this Swiss guy who had been in Digital Marketing for 7 years. His figures were truly impressive. He told me he had been working on his websites / social media channels etc. only 2-3 hours/day but he had been doing it EVERY DAY of the last 7 years. That's the exact opposite of what many people do. They try to get financial results immediately and if they don't in a couple of months they lose motivation and give up!

Bang on!!! The thing is with online businesses is that if you don’t quit it’s impossible to lose. Your efforts compound with time and it just gets better and better... but most people quit or give up before they see any results

awesome story! Great reminder too :)

That's a tricky question. I believe if you have other source of income, you tend to take it easy, sometimes pushing forward deadlines. In my situation, I cant afford more than 2 hours per day, sometimes less. I'm looking for Affiliate Marketing or Niche to be a second income, not the primary.

2 hours a day is nothing to be sniffed at Walter! There's a lot that can be done in 2 hours if you use the time well.

Have you ever heard of the Pomodoro technique? I found that really helped too...

Thanks!

I know this feeling! WA is my side hustle too Walter.

2 hours per day is gold in my opinion. My average is 1-2 hours however sometimes I only get 20mins. BUT, I am enaged and productive in that 20mins. For example, I wrote two sections of an article yesterday and left feeling happy.

Today I was able to publish that article, engage in this platform, and start my next review. So far I am 80mins in with 10 mins to go (ish).

The point is, with consistency (even small parts), your side hustle will flourish!

All the best,
Gina

Awesome Gina, setting those boundaries is so important too. It's easy to just think "ah, I'll spend a bit longer on this" but then you end up sacrificing sleep or family time or something else. The longer you have to finish something the longer it will take to do it
