Hi Everyone.

I am after reviews or opinions on the WP Rocket plug in. I know it is a paid for plug in and based on my initial research it seems like a good buy.

However i value the thoughts of the WA community.

So what do you all say?

Kind Regards Mike

WP Rocket is a great cache plugin, if you do install it, the first thing to do is to turn SitePlus+ from Extreme to Accelerated. Do not turn it off completely, but make sure it’s not set to Extreme.

Also, if you have an image optimising plugin, especially if you’re serving WebP images, make sure that these are deferred and offered from WP Rocket and not from the image plugin.

Hope that makes sense and helps,
Chrystopher

Hi Chrystopher, why should SitePlus be set to accelerated?

If it remains on Extreme, you will be trying to minify and combine the CSS & JS again, which the cache plugin has already optimised for you. This can cause multiple issues, such as breaking your site completely, as it can’t load the CSS or JS or it will cause Render Blocking issues, slowing your website down.

Ohhh... i see. I have a question - I'm using Asset Cleanup Site booster which minified my css and js. Would you recommend setting SiteSpeed on accelerated or Extreme?

As you’ve minified and combined the files, you will want to change to Accelerated, as you currently have a conflict.

Thanks Chrystopher

I appreciate the input greatly, I am on the newer server at WA using Kraken which has speeded things up.

Technically I have no idea how these things work, it is like a new language to me.

I do know that my images are standard Jpegs!

Thanks again.
Mike

No worries, if you aren’t using WebP images, you don’t need to worry about this, but you do want to defer/lazy load your images. You’ll still want to change from Extreme to Accelerated in SiteSupport

Thanks so much!

Hi Chrystopher, I have had a Fiverr guy just add WP Rocket for me. At this time we had SiteSpeed off (previously it was extreme), however now I am getting 87 Desktop and 39 Mobile with SIteSpeed OFF and then 81 Desktop and 41 Mobile with SiteSpeed set to Accelerated.
I am using Kraken
Do you have any suggestions here?
Thanks John

There are quite a few settings in WP Rocket, and you might need to adjust these based on other plugins you have and your theme. What is your website and I’ll take a quick look. You can PM if you prefer. I would highly suggest turning SitePlus+ to Accelerated though, to get the optimum speed with WP Rocket.

Hey Chrystopher, (22 Sept)
Have set SiteSpeed+ to Accelerated - thanks again
Im catching up with the combination of WP Rocket, Lazy Load - Optimize Images (by WP Rocket) and the latest Wordpress 5.5 which already has the lazy load built in.
Looks as though it is compatible: https://wp-rocket.me/blog/lazy-loading-wordpress-5-5/
QUESTIONS:
1. What is the optimal combination of these 2 or 3? (REDUNDANT)
2. I.e. do we need Lazy Load - Optimize Images (by WP Rocket) given the latest WordPress 5.5 has Lazy Load? Looks like YES for iFrames and videos (is the attached the optimal settings)? (SELF ANSWERED)
3. Also which is superior BJ Lazy Load vs A3 LazyLoad plugin vs Lazy Load - Optimize Images (for GP Pro theme + WP Rocket)
(TO TEST, SEE BELOW)

***UPDATE 24 Sept - back to drawing board - WP Rocket was somehow caused my GP Pro theme + Elementor Pro to:
A. not display the styling from Elementor (pages only)
B. and gone wacky with posts too (WP Product review and easy table of contents)
So have disabled it and will test in this order:
1. add Autoptimize
If that doesn't reach the targets (Google Mobile PageSpeed)
2. W3 Total Cache
3. Consider also WP Fastest cache (seems to work OK with Autoptimize)
If that doesn't reach the targets
4. Hummingbird Pro

5. We will try combo's of BJ Lazy Load vs A3 LazyLoad plugin too

WP Fastest Cache is free and is really good.
I am not sure what theme you are using, but I would suggest you before you invest that you google "WP Rocket + Your Theme" or what is the best Cache Plugin for your theme...

Remember that you have SiteSpeed working with your site, and if you install any alternative plugin, you have to disable it.

I hope that helps a bit.

Many thanks Pablo - I appreciated the input.

Regards - Mike

Pleasure Mike!
