I have used the subscribe to comments reloaded plugin on one of my websites for a while, as it is a great and easy way to let people know when I respond to comments and increas

Hej Mikael, du er jo dansk lige som mig :-)

Det er jeg:-)

Hey Mikael,

I have had great success with this one: Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks for that useful link, Triblu! Much appreciated!

Israel Olatunji

This links great - very simply and no fancy extra and updated - just what I was looking for:-)

will test it on one of my sites asap.

Thanks for the tip Trish

You're very welcome Mikael,

Think you will grow to depend on it... just like I have. :-)

You're welcome Israel.

I'd recommend Disqus ...

Thanks

Not sure if this is a silly Q or not. If it does the job you want, just beause it has not been updated, does that mean it's problematical?
Or do plugins need to be updated with every new WP release?
Maybe it hasn't bene updated bevaue it works? :-)
Ian

So far it works on the site I have it on. But when it has not been tested with the newest version of Wordpress, it can potentially lead to problems, and this one has not been updated for quite a while.

Also, with the upcoming release of WP 5.0, I think it is even more important to have plugins that are tested to work with the newest version not to risk something will break.

In general plugins that are not regularly updated can also cause security issues.

I understand that.

Hope you find something else coz it sounds like a really good idea.

Thansk, Mikael.

I would highly recommend to test these plugins:
1. Disqus
2. Jetpack
3. Postmatic
4. Wp Discuz
5. Comment Luv

All the best.

:)Joe

Thanks Joe.

I have previously looked at some of these but they seemed like they were not quite as light and simple. But I will check again.

Thanks,
Mikael

If I remember correctly Jetpack cannot work at WA hosting. I am also interested in finding one, so going to check those you suggested.

That is good to know Jovo. Thanks. Keep me updated about which plugin you find to be the best, if you test some of them. I will also soon test them and see if I can find a good solution

It's good to know Jovo. But i will test it on my test-site and see if there is way around it. Jetpack is quite heavy plugin by default but you can choose which module to activate.

Thanks

:)Joe

Hi WA,

I have recently noticed that sometimes there seems to be a glitch when I am uploading images to the SiteContent and then publishing to WP from here.

Someti

I have experienced this too.

Strange - I have contacted SiteSupport about it now. We will see what they say

I have experienced this with every image. When I post it
WordPress sends a message to moderate.

Thanks for telling Louisa.

I also ran into that, but now after a recent update with Site Content, It is easier to get the image within the site and then adjust the image to your liking then save and insert. Hope this helps.

Thanks Xavier

Hi Mikael!
What is probably happening is that the dynamic URL created when you crop an image in SiteContent is being stripped of the extra info that "stores" the resized instructions, when imported into WP.
Could be a conditional "if" statement in your theme's code.

David

Thanks David. Just strange that it only happens for some images though. That is why I am thinking it might be a glitch.

Maybe I should just try to contact SiteSupport

Yes, do that!
David

Many recent initiatives like site content will have intermittent bugs!

Thanks Michael - yes they will probably be fixed

I have not noticed that as I normally do not add images from Siterubix but only article (text). All images I uploaded from my wordpress dashboard as you have much control on the size and dimension of the image.

We really hope that can be improved with the coming changes in WA.

:)
Joe

yes that would be great:-)

Haven't seen this before, sorry.

I am using the Divi theme and of course have the WA site speed function enabled to speed up my site.

It has previously worked fine, but I now see that there are problems

Hi Mikael! Did you every figure this out? I have the Divi theme and am having HUGE site speed issues! When I run tests on several different sites, I get an F on several things. I really don't know how to fix it. I am hoping someone here can teach me.

Greetings to you

try this website
test your website and see

Thanks! I ran the test. It's very thorough. Here is a screenshot of just one of the sections.

Greetings to you

download the super cache plugin
and do delete what your website does not need

Stupid question, but how will I know what it doesn't need? Sorry- this is another thing I am having to learn. I have had quite a few people tell me lately that my site takes forever to load, so I knew something was wrong. Just wasn't sure what.
I'm pretty sure I have images that are way too big as well. All images have been compressed with the EWW plugin but because they were the wrong size when I uploaded them, I am having to go back through and resize and replace all of them.

Greetings to you

enters your website there plugin then
add new plugin
search over super cache writing
and see what is more downloads

Hi Heidi,

I kept pushing support and at the end they managed to help me out with a solution so it became faster.

Seems like the WA SiteSpeed does not always work with Divi but if you get a hold of the right person at support it seems to be possible to fix. At least that was the case for me.

Thank you! I'm going to have to put in a ticket. I installed the WP Super Cache plugin last night for the caching results I am getting and it slowed my site down by 2 more second! I had to delete it.
I know we have the Site Speed here at WA and I have mine on the fastest one so CSS and Javascript shouldn't be an issue.
I am getting a message saying I need to enable compression for divi fonts. I have no idea what that means.
I'm afraid to try to Autoptimize plugin for fear I will make matters worse.
Hopefully site support can help.

there are a few things like this you need to check in the Divi setting yourself. That actually helped me once I found out - just forgot about until you just mentioned it.

In the Divi theme options under the general settings make sure the two options for Minify and combine are enabled.
And also in the theme options go to builder - advanced - and make sure Static CSS file generation is enabled.

See if this will help. If not, you can also ask Divi's support as there might be other things like this you just need to do yourself and their support is very helpful as well

All of those are enabled. This is the response I got from Site Support:

Please note that the PageSpeedInsight score keeps varying throughout the day so you need not to worry about it and it will not affect your website SEO and rankings.

I know my site is super slow and it's a problem. I am getting an F and a D on site speed results. It's not changing at different times of the day.

Have you had to deal with Divi support when they ask you to enable to plugin and let them login? Because it's hosted at WA, it makes it a little more difficult to get support from outside companies. I know I can create a temporary login but it's just not the same as hosting at other places.

It is not at all a problem to get support from Divi on a WA site. If they find it is necessary to log in to your site when you contact them, they have a plugin you need to install and give them temporary access through that. It works fine - I have used that option with Divi myself several times.

Great thanks! Site support just said they made some adjustments and when I did the site test again I went from 3.7 seconds to 7.0 seconds! So that's not good.
I will give Divi a try.

Greetings to you

can you post any photo here
about your problem

Hope it will work out for you Heidi. Sometimes you need to keep insisting with the support here with more technical things like this.

But hopefully Divi will be able to give a few ideas.

Yes, I have found that to be the case. Thanks!

Hi

I have a basic divi theme on wa
No problems so far

Are you using other plugins?
They can cause problems too...

See my plugins below

Thanks for sharing Fleeky. Good to hear you are not having problems with it. So ypou have good numbers in google speed test with the WA site speed function enabled?
I am using a few other plugins. You can see them in a comment to Haugland below.

Yes...

Divi has complicated themes
Meaning they are not very compatible with other stuff

It is take or leave

Using their basics is great. And even then...
It conflicts With all in one seo

So in the devi theme you better keep those options off

Go through your devi dashboard and mke sure you do not override existing plugins.best is not to use conflicting options.
That is how i solved in the past...

Elegant themes is very complicated and conflicting

Thank you Bellon

You can also switch to the basic theme and see if your problem persist...

would prefer not changing my site and what I have built there and risk messing that up. So hope I can find another solution. But the speed is also not that slow, but just shows issues with something that WA site speed was supposed to take care of so was hoping to find a solution for that. But thanks for the suggestions

Yes, right.

I do not think it is wa... probably just settings in your theme. Have you tried to set off the speed of wa?

no have not tried to turn off WA site speed.

I'm using Divi on one site but without Site Speed. So I just activated it to see if any issues turn up. Will get back to you on that.

Is it a pure Divi and Elegant Themes plugin site or do you have any third party plugins with separate CSS that may interfere with the rendering?

Will be interesting to see your results. Thanks for testing it.

I have other plugins as well as for example Facebook pixel plugin, cookie notification, wp review and pretty links. Do you know how I can check if any of these plugins interfere - is the only way to deactivate them one at the time and run a speed test or is there a easier way you know of?

Thanks

No hasn't come through for me yet anyway. May be a problem here. On that I'm having issues with Bloom the Aweber plugin from elegant themes. The time stamp on this server is 6 hours out with Awebers and will not allow me to connect to my lists. It was working a while ago but has stopped working and now I can't get back again. Have a ticket in with support here at the minute.

that sounds strange with the Aweber connection. Hope site support can help get that fixed.

So just to make sure I get it right - you are using divi and WA site speed is enabled, and the css and javascript render is not showing up when you test your site speed in google's test tool?

There is no easy way to test plugins other than to remove them one by one. But I don't think the plugins you mention should interfere with hole page rendering.

I have noticed no immediate issues on my site, but I will let it run a day and test from different browsers tomorrow.

As far as I can see on your site you have a CTA and some blurb images that load / doesn't load randomly on Chrome and IE. I find the loading to be totally random, and since they load sometimes the CSS and everything is there, it's just not called properly.

It looks like it's a theme issue in combination with a SiteSpeed issue. Divi is a great theme but it renders code in a different way than many other themes, so it may be possible that the combination is not good.

I did a quick search on Elegant Themes support regarding issues with Divi and managed hosting like WPengine and similar, but I could not find anything. I am not sure what SiteSpeed is built on so it's not that easy to start a support ticket with Elegant Themes, but you could try a general question there regarding Divi and issues with managed hosting.

I know there were issues like this with SiteSpeed when it was in beta at the beginning of this year. Therefore I did not activate it and since I forgot all about the functionality.

Aweber connection fixed, problem was here but guys sorted it for me. Maybe send a ticket could be a change made here.

Thank you very much for the reply and also for the test. Please kep me updated when you have seen how your site works with site speed in a day or so. Really appreciate your help.

Good you got it solved. Problem for me is that site suppport is not willing to look at it and say I should contact the theme provider.

For some reason, I sense that SiteSupport is not too happy about 'heavy' premium themes like Divi.
Open a support ticket with Elegant Themes and see what they have to say.

Ok. I will try that. Thanks again

I hear ya I had to go back to them after elegant themes found no fault with my website and all the plugins had been disabled. Saying that I know the guys were really busy with Black Friday weekend may get a better response now we are over that.

Just spent the evening getting my bloom email forms updated and setting up my list. Hopefully all set up now to start collecting emails again. Let us know how you get on.

If no improvement send me a PM and we will discuss tactics. I'm sure Alan would be able to assist also.

Thanks Mark. Will keep in touch.

My site is rendering OK with SiteSpeed enabled. But numbers are lower on Google than here

Hmm... Interesting. Thanks for keeping me updated.

No such problems here, score in high 80's mostly. Whats google saying exactly?

It is css and javascript render issue google site speed test is showing. An issue on many WP sites, but when WA site speed was first introduced it removed that issue but now it is there again.

I am having this same issues, among other things, and they are enabled in my General settings.

Hi,

I just bought access to a premium theme, and now of course want to use it.

I would however like to develop it in a way where it is not publicly available whil

You can develop on a SiteRubix website and copy it over to your new website when you are done.

Or, you can activate NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW on your new website and develop it there, then later remove those restrictions.

Thank you

What error did wp clone give you?

it says:

Error Message : cURL error 7: couldn't connect to host

As far as I know, unless it has changed, WA hosting does not use cURL. ~Jude

thanks. Found a solution and have it all done by now. But thank you very much

you can 'beta test' develop websites using a siterubix subdomain first. When you are done you can move your siterubix subdomain website to your new domain. Do note that when you copy them to the new domain, you will overwrite everything that is on the domain if you have already put something there.

It can be a way to test stuff out and publish stuff later, but I generally developed my site on the fly on my new domain. It will take quite some time before google starts actually seeing you anyway, so it won't hurt to develop 'live and publicly'.

But if you plan to do a lot of development than yes, you can use top method.

Steven

Thanks for your reply Steven. The reason I would prefer not doing it "live" is that the site has already been live for about 6 months and getting a bit of traffic.

So I was hoping to find a way to copy all that is on the current site to a subdomain or siterubix and then make it look nice there with the new theme, and then copy it back to my real domain.

Do you have any idea if this is possible fairly easy?

I tried to use WP clone to copy it onto a siterubix but came up with an error

Hi,

I have for a while felt I was quite limited with the initial free theme I have chosen for my website.

So I am seriously considering getting a premium theme:-

Featured Comment

Hi Mikael,

I think both of those are pretty solid themes - BUT...

Those themes have page builders in them which can become extremely confusing and time consuming.

I personally recommend to go with something that suits you and your niche. One of my favorite themes is the eleven40 Pro Theme by StudioPress.
https://my.studiopress.com/themes/eleven40/

It is very optimized and doesn't have any type of fancy pants page builder.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your input Jay.

I have heard good things about studiopress themes before, so will check out the eleven40pro and see if it might fit my website, or look more into some of the other studiopress themes.

Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestion Paul

I am using "Sahifa" theme myself at my website and i have been really happy.

You can find it from ThemeForest if you got interested...

Responsive design, ability to make an ecommerce store, good translation options etc.

Thank you Juhani.

Have not heard about that theme before but will check it out.

Hi,

I have for a while felt I was quite limited with the initial free theme I have chosen for my website.

Thanks,
Mikael
